What is a good professional answer to "why do you want to leave consulting?" when asked by a hiring manager. We all know the fishbowl reasons, but looking for an effective spin. Thanks in advance.

I think the travel reason is a legitimate one, especially if you're trying to settle down and start a family

Could also say you'd like to own projects through the full lifecycle instead of just setting strategies and leaving, depending on your shift

Another is ownership. As consultants we help facilitate a lot, but it's easier to really own something tangible in industry

Could even leverage you want to focus on one skill set; become specialized versus a jack of all trades

My answer: "that's a bs question. Why the f do you care. Just check the box and ask me something that is semi-meaningful. Hell, what do you want out of life is better than that." I swear, most interview questions are such a joke. My favorite, "tell me your weaknesses (as a way of telling me your strengths but i don't want to be that transparent)."
