Look for tech PM roles or roles you where you are the bridge between the engineers and the business. Basically an IT business analyst.
Fyi I have a phone call lined up with FB. Wish me luck guys.. thanks again dd1
First inclination is a project manager at a big company
I worked on a serious software development project in past several months and realized I don't really want to be a software engineer. Low exposure to business user/leadership and long hours of debugging/brainless coding. Especially the backend dev. People notice you only when your work is broken.
@OP Ah. I hear you. But I've said this before here and I'll say it again the grass is always greener. Other tech jobs also may very well involve 'debugging and building shitty code', 'wiping senior ppl ass', etc. But as long as you're already setting your eyes on opportunities that you may enjoy more - hopefully it'll land something great.
Thanks dd1 for replying so nicely on my sour post. Had a bad day and your post at least give me some shine light.
Back end seriously sucks especially when your client is tech dummie. Only care about front end. No one gives a crap how delicious spam is made.
What type of role OP? And congrats and good luck
That's what I'm talking about OP. Hope you blow them away. Genuinely interested in FB myself so let me know how it goes 🙏🏾

Secondly. You 'can' teach yourself some fundamentals of software. It could be web development, data analysis, etc. Also maybe request a more techie project

Exact same boat OP.
DD I've asked for tech roles but there is always someone on the bench with more legit development experience. So I get passed over and get slotted into another functional role for 8 months

Happy I was able to help @OP :)
What areas of tech and at what level?
I'm trying to go client strategy in tech
@D2 sorry I had missed your message. Being passed over by other tech folk on the bench does suck. But if you keep striving to be placed on a tech project as well as hone your skills (whatever that may be, and that may involve using time outside of work to read up/practice) you should be able to land something.
Fishbowl? Or Facebook lol
