I think it's pretty common advice to any job, but having a plan is the most important thing. Figure out where you want to be in 5 years, 10 years, etc. And break down what you need to do by year, quarter, month to be able to get there. You have to be working to advance your career and not just let time pass you by
Know how to do what your are doing; be aware of what you don't know how to do; never stop learning how to do new things and how to do what you do better.
Rising Star
Focus on the task. Lots of variables, distractions, and scope changes can derail projects.
Be a sponge and be willig to learn everything you can. I have soaked in every piece of knowledge that every job has been willing to provide me. I have always been willing to learn and grow at every single job that I have had and it really has helped me.
