What is the industry's take on the emergence of the Creative Strategist role? Not a Brand Strategist, FYI. Seeing it more and more at FB, Google, Snap, & Pinterest... Most seem to be former ADs & CWs.

Sounds like the position of "I just come up with the ideas, big guy" is making its return.

I've been in strategy for 18 yrs. So tired of all the different permutations...and single-vertical strategists. What a waste.

I agree, because last time we had one Ina brainstorm he just spouted his usual content strategy rhetoric and everyone felt bored

A strategist friend told me that different verticals of strategists are mostly used as a way to sell ideas to clients. When clients are told, "you'd really benefit from having a social media strategist," it warrants having a position for that and paying for it using client $

One of the CDs at my agency recently had a title change to Creative Strategist. According to them, this person will be able to deliver and speak to the creative work better than the strategist.

like

Creative Strategists for platforms are mostly just creatives. They provide various services based on the ask. Sometimes they do provide strategy, but more like a CD would. Sometimes they create. Sometimes they sell. Its flexible. It pays to have someone who knows the platform in and out. They can strategize for new features in the pipeline.

What is it? Haven't heard of this

You would think that advertising isn't creative anymore - and the solution is more layers of management! Could that really be so? Really?

At Digitas creative strategist = account planner.

Received offer from BCG for ECT AD role. Read numerous comments about ECT being not attractive compared to Generalists track. Also heard challenges about billability/utilization. Any views/guidance is appreciated.

Background - I am not super keen to become an equity partner and comfortable to stay on ECT track. Main reason to join will be opportunity to work with different clients, smart talented people and good brand. I may consider going back to industry after 3-5 years in ECT.

Does anyone have any advice for a recent masters graduate looking to move into product marketing? My professional experience is mostly in brand, social and event marketing, but after completing grad school, I’ve realized that I’d love to get into the product side of things. Unfortunately, 95% of the PMM roles I’ve come upon want 5 years of actual product marketing experience. So any advice for breaking into this area would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance 😊

I’m a Junior product manager with a Master’s in Healthcare Management. I feel like the current company that I am at has my title as JPM, but I am doing PM work i.e creating product roadmaps, collaborating across stakeholders (business, marketing, design teams), creating user stories/features, etc. and I feel like my work isn’t being valued and I’m constantly being micromanaged by business teams expectations.

How feasible is it for me to apply to a PM role with less than a year of experience?

Do recruiters and Hiring Managers actually review and read resumes? Also tech companies that sell SaaS, what is it with the requirements of having 10 years or more if technical sales experience? Also the ramp up period is not realistic. Average sales cycle for a reputable SaaS provider is 12-24 months. How on earth a start up can state that their ramp up period is 90 days? The company hasn’t had any new sales either. Start up CEO’s… be realistic or seek enough funding to operate.

I've never worked on anything for TikTok and hope I never have to. TikTok is from hell. I was on it one time for about 10 minutes and could feel myself becoming mentally unwell in just those 10 minutes. The human brain is not designed to deal with the sheer amount of sensory overload that app gives you. I'm pretty sure TikTok is one of the main reasons we are constantly hearing about how much Gen Z struggles with mental health.
