Move dilemma:
Currently @ Arthur D. Little Limited Dubai as SE Manager w/ base comp of 285k $ + 10-15% bonus. Vert limited fit w/ people & projects in the region (MEI) & not motivated by seniors. Not happy w/ the job but good WLB. Very likely to promote to Pr which would include a 20-30% jump in total comp but shift to more variable
Move to MBB as PL. Projects & people are supposed to be great and he could see himself in the long run. Comp is 170k $ + 60% bonus. Will take 1.5y to move to Pr

The more I have give, the more my bank account has benefited. For me, the more I trust God with my finances the more I benefit. Benefit isn’t exactly the right word but give and trust, you will see the positive results. Not forcing this upon anyone but this has been true to me and my beliefs.
Love this! I sometimes forget that there are other people in this industry that hold similar values
Muslims holding above a certain threshold of wealth are required to donate 2.5% of the cash value of their assets every year. I practice it and like it because it becomes a habit, it keeps me humble about the transience of my worldly possessions and I can see the impact it directly has on people (I usually try and give it directly to deserving families in third world countries)
On a monthly basis outside of that I don't have a set figure but I usually try and give about 5%
Have to say, very surprised by people's responses on this thread in the best way possible.
Z4. Even if only the charitable replied I'm still surprised to see there were that many
$11k a year which ends up being about 7%. I donate to PP, ACLU, a local animal rescue, and this year I added the Eden Project which is focusing on targeted reforestion (our best chance at curbing climate change immediately).
I started with only donating about $3k a year and have increased it over time so I don’t really notice. If I get a big pay bump, I increase more quickly.
10% Tithing to our church. Selective in supporting charities like Compassion International.
I volunteer my time and knowledge. Teach a man to fish goes much farther than a constant hand out.
.
~5-10% depending on where; goes up to ~15% if you count firm match

0% now. My primary responsibility is to take care of myself and family first. After I reach my goals - including being retired and fully independent financially- I will happily share my wealth.
I barely can save 15% and here some people are giving charity 15%.
Might end up with lifestyle changes initially but become second nature soon
1% at the end of every year - on giving Tuesday when my company matches 2:1 instead of 1:1. So effective donation ends up being 3% of gross
I would give more if I didn’t have a massive mortgage and 2 kids in daycare...
1% or so.

0%. I give about $100 back to my university allumni society and that’s it.
Would the world be a better place if everybody stopped giving to charity?
Hopefully nobody here is still donating 10% to the Mormon Investment Fund.
No, I don't give to religious orgs. I don't care for LDS at all. However, nowadays everything is politically motivated and often fabricated. I don't buy 90% of what the media says, the rest I might give the benefit of the doubt.

About $750 a year in various monthly donations, events, and art memberships. Definitely want to up this to 3-5% of my salary and support scholarships and grants once my loans are gone

0. I am the charity
