@D3: Partners should take a cut and keep you on payroll? I have solidarity for my colleagues who are laid off but not for ones who think this way.
For gods sake, next don't tell me that the rich should pay their fair share, They can take it but others can't, Middle class is shrinking, Greed etc
After every round everyone was told there won't be more. Just like after the last round in May, which probably won't be the last one either... Also, terminations were sudden - called in tomorrow, gone the day after. That being said, I believe folks were left on payroll for some number of weeks, which generally helps with the job search/transition.
OP, are you part of EY Talent/Marketing? Is this post material for you to use for sound bites about how Deloitte folks hate their own firm? If so, very smart. We are puppets in your master plan.
D1 no. Im client serving just curious because performance based firings are common though low in number and wanted to see if this was different
I think OP needs to provide some deck to EY mgmt n is looking for best practices in
I don't know why PTO being cashed out is a big deal. You are owed it as part of your employment contract.
Pwc4 I disagree. I personally know people who were staffed on 12-18 month projects into next year who were let go. The past was definitely considered.
I see. Maybe it's different at D but at PwC, everyone I know who's been let go the past few months had JUST rolled off a project or been on the bench for extended amounts of time
Yes here they pulled people off projects. They use the word trajectory which means do they think you have a growth path within the firm or not?
Interesting about the targeting... SC2s are up for promo or up next year?
From afar, I'd be less than enthused if the message came from a partner who wasn't my own RP
C1 for the record, I'm for paying "fair share", including mine, through taxes. Doesn't mean I feel the same for a business or that gov't should tell ppl how to run their business. They're not the same thing.
@EY: Dude, that was for D3.
C1 I know, but I had a view on it as well 😎
^ I know. It sucks. I'm not laid off but I can bet every cent I have to say that it sucks. I guess that's how laying off is.
However, here's a thought: if a partner you knew laid you off...I'm not sure if that makes it less robotic ans human. Not sure.
Also mandated by some state laws
Maybe I'm being naive but I assume the very top performers of any firm would not be laid off. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying those who were laid off weren't high performers -- I'm sure they were. But in tough times, tough decisions must be made and unfortunately some good people are casualties.
Some manager posted this a while back, but it has more to do with missed targets and future utilization than anything else
I.e. They don't care about the past as much as they care about what's coming up
Ugh, that really sucks, because in a way it definitely makes you doubt your performance. At least when you're rolling off or on the bench, it's more clear it was about the $$$
Yes they are. I think it makes sense that way. NOT saying the criteria were clear.
