You don’t work for them. You are under no obligation to reply. They should know their own systems and understand where stuff is.
You really don’t have to say anything. Just stop responding. Your time is yours and they aren’t paying for it anymore.
You are under no obligation to answer. Are they paying you for those consulting hours when they call?
If no, do not respond. You’re giving them free time. Think of it this way, if they had to reduce staff they wouldn’t give a second thought to walking you out.
Totally up to you. No point in being a dick and telling them to fuck themselves though, you might need to interact with them again later on. No need to burn down bridges unless you absolutely need to IMO.
Okay, so just gotta figure out a tactful way to tell them to go f**k themselves and leave me alone. It's like dealing with a bad break up lol. Thanks for the advice!
They did that to people from my last company, you can be nice in the beginning for a couple of times, then hard stop. They can figure this out
If it is simple enough, why not, specially if you want that door to be (easily) open for future opportunities. I did that for one of my previous companies for months. I wanted to keep my options open to come back there someday and they were good to me when I was going thru difficult times, so just reciprocity.
You are obviously not obligated to. If it's a company or manager you never want to turn back to, then sure just ignore that! I've heard the hiring team's inside conversations about candidates and even if one of the interviewers knows you from the past then that person gets asked plenty of questions about you.
Thank you so much for this perspective! I doubt I'll ever find myself wanting to work with them again, but I will do my best to let them down easy. I just don't know how much attention I can keep giving a job I already left behind. They should at least let me bill them a few hours as a contractor!
Slow down response speed. Add a day on top for each request, they will soon figure things out themselves and you were still always helpful and responsive. Add random excuses, if you feel like it. Nothing to win by fighting and being direct
