What's like to be a community manager for a video game? It has always been one of my dream jobs and I'm curious on what the work experience is really like.

Community managers are responsible for building the community that grows around the game. You would attend events, write newsletters, set up live streams, and organize meetups via social media. It would be on you to guide the vibe of the community and keep it positive as much as possible. They are the people who know the fans best. You'd probably really like it!

I had a friend who did something similar for a small gaming company. He had a blast and found it super fulfilling.

For a video game? That would be nice. I am curious now that I want to have an idea on what they actually do.

Being a community manager for a video game is both exciting and challenging. It involves a lot of creative problem solving and communication with players.

Fun because we are able to work with the game developers to ensure the game is living up to the expectations of the players. Ultimately, the community manager is responsible for creating an enjoyable and immersive experience for the players.

Being a community manager for a video game can be incredibly rewarding, but also demanding and challenging. As a community manager, you are responsible for engaging and interacting with the game's players, responding to their feedback, and creating content to promote the game.

You must keep up with the latest trends and be able to respond quickly and effectively to any issues or questions players may have. Additionally, you must be knowledgeable about the game and its features, be able to troubleshoot technical issues, and work with the development team to ensure the game is running smoothly. It's a demanding job, but it's also a great way to interact with players and help them enjoy the game.

Being a community manager for a video game can be a very rewarding and challenging job. It involves managing a large community of fans who interact with the game and support it in various ways. It requires excellent communication and social media skills, as well as an understanding of the game and its players.

Community managers must be able to monitor and respond to feedback from the community, as well as develop strategies to keep the game engaging and relevant. They must also be able to identify and address any potential issues that arise in the game, such as bugs, glitches, or cheats. Finally, they must be able to promote the game to both new and existing players, build relationships with developers, and help foster a strong sense of community.

Hey y'all, kind of a two part question:
1. I enjoy the people management more than individual contributor stuff. What career paths do you see in our industry for people who are managing support engineering teams?
2. What certifications are valued today? Seems like being a AWS Cloud Practitioner is a good general one, but are there others that stand out?

I’ve been practicing in both big law (many yrs ago) and now in-house for over 10 years. Quite often I struggle because I don’t find work fulfilling. I’ve been in industries that allegedly have greater cause (healthcare) but was eventually disappointed by the corporate bureaucracy and went to a cutting-edge tech company for intellectual stimulation. Still I struggle. Should I try public interest? Not that I don’t need the money but it’s hard to work when I am so detached and find it meaningless

Fellow enterprise tech sales fish, I’m interested to hear your perspective. I’ve been in a rut lately and seriously considering leaving sales. I think it’s primarily fueled by one thing:
After a 6 mo cycle I closed a large deal (4x the average deal size) prior to receiving delayed 2022 comp plans. The deal counts as a 2022 deal. On last years comp plan it would’ve paid out at 10%. This year it pays out at a measly 4%.

How do you/have you navigated your way through and out of these situations?
