2 years was my breaking point — inflation doesn’t stop, neither should you!
Depends on where you are at. I currently make about $130k working about 20 hours a week, got a 6% raise last year and full autonomy across the board
Work for a large HoCo in a smaller Midwest market.
No current growth, but I will chill for a while until the right opportunity arises.
It’s not always greener on the other side, and there is no guarantee of growth anywhere you go.
You work part time and make $130k??
Well, I’ve been in my current position for over 4 years and it has been too long, although I’ve received some significant merit and other increases.
2 years maybe 3 if you got a decent raise in between. And I’ve been in the industry for 20 years, mostly at hold cos and I was at Omnicom, so I know.
Regardless of all the tech layoffs and layoffs in general, there are still roles out there. Agencies win and lose business all the time and there are still plenty of opportunities at ad techs, platforms and social platforms, they like big agency people bc you essentially have “insider” info.
The adage has not changed, quickest and easiest way to get promoted/raises is to leave.
Don’t be worry about how it looks on your resume, there are plenty of successful people out there with resumes that have several positions of 2 years and sometimes even less.
Appreciate the perspective! Very helpful
Been in my role for like 2 years without raise since my initial promotion, at this point I feel like I need to make the next step or I'll never be fairly compensated
