What’s the salary of a real estate attorney? Can you comment on where you work (jurisdiction and setting like govt, private practice, or in house), what kind of real estate you practice, what you earn yearly plus any bonuses, how many years of experience you have, and anything else that’s relevant?

I think you have to delineate between at a minimum between transactional and litigation, and Residential v commercial. There will also be nuance for attorneys in attorney closing states v non-attorney closing states, as well as those where the attorneys are also title agents.

Here in Cali - we're seeing Mid to Snrs. in unremarkable firms, non-am-law - pitching their tent at 160 - 250+ DOE.

That said - Real Estate and Business Lit. are peaking again in terms of demand so expect those salaries to be competitive, or more-so.

In-house in JD-preferred but non-practicing transactional real estate development role (I.e., more business drone than the real legal dept), graduated in ‘11: $140k base, 15-20% bonus plus pension, 401k, insurance etc.

Not biglaw comp obv, but it’s a fairly low-stress 9-5. Construction costs are killing projects though; layoffs may be imminent.

Hello RSM coworkers! I am thrilled to be moving to RSM into a Scheduler roll. I just found out yesterday and want to be as prepared as possible in the next steps.

So here are my questions.

How long does the background study take? I'm guessing admin staff have a study that is faster and less complicated than someone in Tax ect.

When training at home what did you need that wasn't supplied by RSM? My home office is well stocked but I want to be as prepared as possible.

Thanks in advance!

Has anyone ever heard of this type of real estate private equity fund structure:

-One LLC, so only one PPM
-Multiple investors that can be onboarded anytime
-Multiple investments that investors can determine whether or not they want to invest in
-One K-1 per investor based on their investments and income
-Ability for the Sponsor/Fund to invest directly, indirectly and in equity, debt, Pref, etc.
To me this seems extremely cumbersome and would require multiple classes of (cont’d)

Pro se plaintiff, an attorney, filed a complaint alleging mold defects after closing on a property. Client, layperson, may have agreed orally to a settlement amount without proof of damages prior to filing appearance and obtaining an attorney. Client filed appearance pro se, then plaintiff sent over a draft settlement agreement few weeks later which client didn’t sign. Client then got an attorney, filed answer, etc. Can this oral agreement be voided for coercion, indefinite mat’l term, etc?

Any advice on shifting from association law to commercial real estate in FL?

I've been applying to jobs for months but every position wants at least 2yrs of experience in real estate transactions, usually way more. I'm at 1yr+ doing HOA/condo work but have had no opportunity to do real estate transactions like I expected. Seems like the only way to get the experience is to have nailed a big law gig right out of school and get put into that practice.

Do you charge a flat fee for representing a buyer in a straightforward purchase and sale of one property? What’s ballpark legal fee — from LOI to PSA to diligence to closing? Assume pretty clean title, maybe one CC&R.
