Which firms have unlimited PTO?

Do any of you save specifically for vacation every year? Husband and making a case for saving about 10% for yearly family vacations. We currently save or invest 40% of our income. Thoughts? Best practices for yearly vacations?

I am on PTO this week and my manager keeps Slacking, texting and emailing me asking questions that I believe can wait until next next week. She has also asked me to take a minute and send a quote. I am trying to do better and when I take PTO I’m focused on really taking time off and spending time with my family. Any suggestions on how to handle this?

I was just told by my manager that taking a 2 week vacation would look bad while staffed on a client project. I’ve already been on this project for over a year and another extension is coming. Take 1week, he said. My husband and I planned to travel to Europe from the west coast which is expensive and time consuming. We don’t want to limit ourselves to 1 week. Has anyone else run into this type of situation? Can management really dictate how long you can get away - if you have the days accrued?

We are in NYC and wondering what everyone is doing about staff holiday parties. We obviously skipped it last year but not sure about this year. We fly in the team from all our offices which means this event is the only time everyone gets to meet face to face so it’s a popular event.

What are some good companies to work for in Dallas?

This may be a hot take - but as a younger person, working with parents of small kids (especially new parents) is so frustrating. I frequently find myself responsible for picking up the slack due to their family commitments - it’s also somehow completely socially acceptable for kids to barge into zoom meetings screaming. I wouldn’t find it nearly as bothersome if I felt like leadership and parent colleagues took my issues and non work commitments seriously in addition to that of parents and kids

Anyone here ever successfully asked for a raise or promo in their current firm? How did you navigate the balance of asking firmly but also politely without making the situation awkward?

Is it expected that consultants don’t make plans on weeknights? We have night calls to close out the day at 6pm every night but there’s always actions to come out of it. Is it just assumed we are available 24/7 M-F? This is so toxic. I had a friends birthday dinner tonight and the whole night I was anxious about what I’m supposed to be doing tonight.
