Individual contributor seems less stressful (that’s what I am now); people management usually pays more

like

🙋🏻‍♂️Individual contributor all the way.

I am compensated quite well.

I once thought people management, but the older I grow individual contributor is more appealing

like

All else equal, IC. Things are never equal though. People management pays a lot more and has a higher ceiling.

There’s a natural switch in consulting when you get promoted from analyst/associate/consultant (Mostly IC roles) to project leader/EM/Manager (more PM roles)

Depends on whether you want to do or manage. Additionally the compensation will depend on how much the industry values management roles

I really thought I wanted to be a ppl leader until I got really close to it. No thanks. At least not at this point in my life. I can and will make plenty as an IC esp in tech with stock

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.
