Definitely speak to your manager first, otherwise they may feel you went around them if you go directly to HR. Usually the money will come from finance and HR just facilitates the paperwork. I’d speak to your boss first and then have them advocate for you up through the chain of command, good luck!
I think 6 months miiiiight be too early but it's important to start building your case for it now so that it's easier when the time comes. Most places give the raise at like a year though
You taking on more work is reason to promote you on-cycle. It’s not a compelling reason to award you a raise mid-cycle. If you’re taking on additional responsibility, others probably are too.
If you wanted a mid-cycle raise from me, I’d only be compelled by a clear case of pay inequity or a competing offer.
Sorry OP, six months does not a raise make, no matter how much extra work you've taken on. If it were, 90% of these posts would disappear.
I agree with the others, you may want to wait until the standard review cycle. By then you'll have more experience and reasoning as to why you deserve a specific % increase amount.
I would call a meeting with your manager. I am always just up front and honest. Express how you are feeling and then ask if you can talk about comp.
