Maybe some companies are just too focused on revenue and reputation. But it can be cured if you have really good management that exhibits really good leadership skills. One with compassion and sincere concern for their employees.
Thank you! The good management piece is definitely what I still need.
t's not accurate to say that most companies don't allow employees to stand up for themselves. While some companies may have cultures or policies that discourage assertiveness, many companies value employees who are confident, proactive, and able to speak up for themselves.
However, it's true that in some industries, such as customer service or call centers, there may be an emphasis on availability and responsiveness, which can create an environment where employees feel they must prioritize taking calls and responding quickly over asserting their own needs or boundaries.
It's important to remember that companies are made up of individuals with different priorities, values, and communication styles. Some managers or colleagues may be more receptive to assertiveness than others, and it's up to each individual employee to assess their workplace culture and determine how best to advocate for themselves.
If you feel that your workplace culture or policies are preventing you from standing up for yourself, consider speaking to a supervisor or HR representative to express your concerns and explore potential solutions. Additionally, developing strong communication and conflict resolution skills can help you navigate difficult conversations and advocate for your needs in a professional and effective manner.
The customer is the core and center of any business, so developing a strong mindset and empathy will allow you to succeed even when it feels like no one is backing you.
