HR recruiters are being laid off themselves, so I don’t think they can guarantee job security. Everyone’s on edge
The reality is that we’re all essentially freelancers in corporate America.
Some of us have a bit more security and some benefits. But we’re all a client loss or two away from looking for our next gig.
Once you’ve been laid off, it’s easier to see this. And in some ways, it’s freeing. You realize you don’t owe your employer your soul; you’ll survive if you get laid off.
By the same token, knowing you always need to be proving your value makes you more aware of the urgency to provide more than “good enough.”
It’s a bit of a loaded question. Even in good times, the answer tends to be the same. Anything can happen.
I recommend not starting your potential employment with this question, although it may feel pressing to you. It just won’t do you any favors.
There is no job security anymore.
When you’re at at-will employee, there’s no such thing as job security. Depending on your level, you might be able to negotiate severance into your signing offer, but that’s usually at a senior level.
Ask cd’s how business is and the outlook for the client and opportunities on new business without asking about this
I thought that the idea of job security went away in 2000. It’s been a race to the bottom since then. Don’t live in fear, but be aware.
Job security is a fantasy. Assurances of security aren’t credible and no one would admit to insecurity. Nothing is to be gained by asking for it.
Job security can only be secured through a union, and even if it could be otherwise, the last person who could offer it would be a recruiter.
It’s capitalism. Somewhere, we are all lines on a spreadsheet.
Just got a 35% pay rise woohoo
Recruiters = the most distrusted/untrustworthy people in the ecosystem 👻👻👻
It’s a business you can start with no cost
The best place you interview at may not necessarily be the one that tells you what you want to hear.
no, no one involved in hiring you can give that, and i wouldn't ask. you would need a union or a contract model — something stiffer than at-will — to change that
Job security as of this decade is not a thing. Like someone else said, it’s at will employment, consider yourself warned. This is not the you’re getting your retirement, pension and gold watch send off as it in past decades, namely 70s, 80s and even 90s. Consider going with your flow, your desires, your goals. Advertising will always be around. But let’s keep it real, a big part of it is dead and soulless.
