Worked 15 years as RN and worked my way up to Director. Switched to insurance. Clawed my way up to Director again but just lost my job. I did all this on an AS degree. I’m just 5-10 years away from retirement Thinking maybe remote CM and potentially PT nights at a hospital? Should I get my BSN or will certs like CM and coding do more for me? Or should I do both? I am not feeling very motivated currently I always spent all my time on my work instead of myself and got thrown away as thanks…

That is so tough. I don't have the answer but I can certainly sympathize with you, and I hope you find a solution that will help you prioritize YOU. It's always important to remember that we are the only one who will put ourselves first, so we really have to make sure that we are doing it.

Yeah.. Shame on me knew I was neglecting myself but 25 years in Insurance I thought I had earned my way and was continuing to kick butt. I was relentless for every project didn’t even like to extend any original goal dates would do what it took to get er done which included a ton of personal time but honestly that’s what makes me feel like I’m making a difference. I’ll find my motivation but at the same time feel like being an individual contributor will help me feel like me again.

I wouldn’t recommend going to get a BSN at this point or investing in any other degrees since you are so close to retirement. I think CM would be a good option to coast in while waiting for retirement. I do think getting a CCM will go a long way. Why would you want to burn yourself out working at a hospital at night, working nights is not healthy and will not allow you to engage in self care or take care of you.

I worked days then afternoons and then midnights at the hospital for 8 years. Maybe I’m crazy but I enjoyed it! It was over 25 years ago so maybe things are a lot different and I don’t know what I’m in for?

Its time to enjoy your self ,time to change the rutine that just work work work the life is short the system just want you work for them and when they want you to leave they dont ask you what are you going to do now do some changes in your life that make you feel happy and enjoy your family too.

I wouldn’t bother getting your BSN this late in the game. The only reason why I got mine was because I was working my way up to FNP otherwise as an ADN I worked in the hospital as a floor nurse, pediatric private duty, home health and a neurosurgery clinic. All great options. I will tell you it was a bit of an adjustment for me going from a Supervisor in home health to a Regular clinic position when I wasn’t in charge.

Any tips for moving up in a medium/large-sized legal department, aside from switching companies? Are there any good PM certification that’s worthwhile? Not something that’s on Udemy for 2 hours of coursework.
Most “certifications” I’ve seen seem a bit superficial… but my current PM job feels like a glorified project manager role so I was hoping to use my extra time to study/earn a certificate to show my skill. If possible.

HR opinion: Do I have any leverage as a hospital nurse case manager in negotiating earned time? I have 15 years within the organization, left for 10 months to be remote during the pandemic while sorting out childcare as immunocompromised family helped. Now HR is restarting my ET as a new employee. I realize I left, but not on bad terms and I am an exemplar and respected employee.
