McKinsey & Company How likely is McKinsey to rescind an offer if there's a recession/downturn before my start date? Received an Associate offer with a start date early in the Fall. But I'm worried about the offer being rescinded due to the ongoing McK scandals/issues and a potential recession in the making (which may prompt them to freeze hiring and/or renege offers).
Has this happened to anyone before at McKinsey, offer getting rescinded due to economic/company downturn? A bit worried

1997. I was a broadcast traffic coordinator who DYING to get into production. Bozell had an opening on the Jeep account for a Junior Producer (dealer tagging mainly). I sit down with the HOP and his questions to me (I’m a woman):
Are you married? (No) Engaged? (No) Keep it that way of you want to make it in this business.
They hired a dude, of course.
But the silver lining was when I saw him in Cannes 10 years later (he was awkwardly walking around the Gutter Bar tryin to strike up conversation) I made a point to say hello and tell him I was short listed (we won a Gold) and he was there trying to salvage his career.
3 week’s later I heard he was fired. He’s now running a video department for a local news outlet. Me? I’m running production for 3 offices in NY, SF, and DET. I’m nice to everyone because it’s my nature - but also because of seeing the demise of this douche
I was a junior going to my very first copywriting interview. I wore a suit 🤦🏼♀️ and brought a binder with printed work 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ it was for a laid back tech company 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
Interviewed with a CD team in NY years ago that were in a band and had guitars all over their office. They asked what bands I liked. I panicked and said “Cold Play.”
^I think I have the job you turned down
Ditched work, when I shouldn’t have on a busy day, to meet a guy at an edit who “loved” my work. I show up. He doesn’t know who I am. Never seen my work. Tries to talk me out of the role before we even sit down. Eventually humors me with a conversation. Rushes through it so he can smoke outside.
The worst ones for me are when the interviewer clearly hasn’t prepared, asks no questions, and I wind up running the interview. It literally takes 5 minutes to scan a resume and prep a few questions, people. Google is full of suggestions if you’re not sure what you’re doing.
I had a second round interview at a small-ish as agency in NYC. They scheduled the interview for October 31st.
It’s not notable that the interview was scheduled for Halloween. It’s notable because the agency had a dispute with their landlord, and when I arrived in the afternoon of the 31st for my interview, they were all busy putting everything into boxes, as they had just been evicted.
The looks on their faces as a potential new hire arrived to see them getting kicked out were fantastic.
Fox News.
It was right after I graduated college, found a job listing that isn’t specify the company but sounded interesting. I was applying for anything and everything at the time, so I sent in my stuff. They reached out almost immediately and I once I found out who it was I was just going to email them back and say: “No way.” But, my friends thought it was hysterical and made me go ... “For the story.”
Most awkward 30 minutes I’ve ever spent in midtown. And that’s really saying something.
Guy said to me: “I don’t know why we have a reputation for being so conservative. We have LIBERALS here.” Except, he said liberals like they were kept in cages and thrown raw meat every three days.
I ended the interview early by saying: “Well, I’m gonna day thanks for your time and see myself out. Have a nice day.” He looked like I slapped him across the face. Was actually pretty funny
Worst interview was with an ECD at the google creative lab. Was super arrogant and mean. Made me feel like he didn't want to talk to me
Interviewer walks out... “oh, you’re a woman?”
EP1, love your story. I’ve worked with you before, and you are seriously the best producer. Just thought I’d share!
I was waiting on a dingy couch at W+K when a painfully hip senior strategist wandered in and says,
“Sorry if I’m off, I just got back from Burning Man.”
Junior me: “The concert?”
😵
I had to call the executive assistant to tell them that I was going to be late for an interview because I was stuck in the elevator. I was there for 35 minutes. As soon as security opened the door I went straight to the interview, heart racing and sweaty. All my prep the night before was gone. Being stuck in an elevator threw off my game, I was a bumbling idiot.
@PM1, OP said “worst” not “best"
I interviewed at WK but mistyped my website address in the email I sent... Which is my name. The recruiter never looked at my work.
Worst was with Netflix. Where they kept telling me how good their culture and gave me a link before the interview. During the interview they asked me 20 questions around their culture and what I loved about their culture.. so full of themselves me thinks. I just want to do great work!
When the company have people with 1-2 yrs of experience interview you for a role that requires 10+ yrs of experience. 😞
I interviewed at W+K and didn’t get the job. I don’t think it was a terrible interview but still...I really fucked that up.
I gave the WORST interview today. Ugh so awkward. Every question got a one word answer. 10 minutes in I had NOTHING else to ask or say to him. Miserable.
I came for an interview with an agency recruiter. I spent there 90 minutes and all that time the lady was talking about HER career.
