Hi everyone! I have a few questions on submitting the visa appointment fee expense for reimbursement in DTE: Can we submit an expense for our spouse’s visa appointment (they’re on H4)? I am from India and in order to pay the visa fee I used the NEFT option to pay but the Indian bank account my brother’s. What receipt will be accepted in DTE? I don’t think there’s any receipt that we received. It was just my brother initiated the transfer from his Deloitte" class="linkified" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" >account.Deloitte

We are already getting taxed to death. How much more do the state governments want to take from us for their special interest projects? States and school districts do not want to pay teachers what they deserve. State budgets such as in NY and CA are bloated with revenues that are used for bullshit projects. We could be taxed to 90% of income, and the states will never pay teachers more. This is part of their strategy to dismantle the public school system and leave parents the only option of private school.
We already have high taxes and low quality of education (compared to global standards)..I would pay more(whether in taxes or a slight increase in fees) if the quality of education significantly increases…That does not mean teachers deserve less..but need to take out a lot of middlemen, bureaucracy, woke culture, political influence in schools and colleges..Americans who study here are by default at a disadvantage for American jobs …because we are expensive, inefficient and ineffective in education
Yes (And i don’t have kids)
Teachers in my district average 96k and still complain.
We already do.
The US spends more on public education than almost every other developed countries yet have some of the worst results.
The education system is broken, and it’s not because we don’t pay teachers enough.
No way. State workers like teachers already have excellent benefits and only work 9 months out of the year.
Absolutely not, the American department of education is a captured department, infested with Democratic nonsense.
No. We plow more and more money into public schools for worsening academic performance. Let the money follow the students and let the market drive academic performance UP. We’ve reached the point where failing public schools have become “sacred cows” and it’s only because of the Union power and money flow to the Democratic Party.
Aren't you just describing private school?
No
Teachers are part time workers in the US
Yes if Biden would stop supporting wars. Why do we need to send to Ukraine and Israel 100 Billion? To buy American weapons? Stop doing that and I will pay more. Until then I will try to pay as little as possible.
Sure, if they can explain why this time will be different and they won't just divert other funding and end up at the same place.
Every few years there is a new school district levy to improve student teacher ratio, properly compensate teachers, improve technology and safety, etc that always passes. Last year our property taxes went up 18%, mostly due to the levy, and there is another one as the sole question on the ballot this year that will certainly pass as turnout will be minimal.
Yup. Virginia implemented the lottery to benefit schools. I mean…did it? No. They just shorted what the government paid by that amount.
Absolutely not. I don’t have kids and don’t ever want one.
Yeah English is my third language. thanks though. As a matter of fact, I didn’t even learn English in the US 😂
No, because the money will NEVER get to the teachers. It will go to the unions and school administrators’ pet projects. Book it.
Yes
Yes
Yes
Yes - as long as it’s clear and transparent that the educators are benefitting
Divide a teachers salary by 0.75 and ask them if they think that is a fair salary and why or why not. If they say yes, they are being paid enough already because they only work 9 months a year. Having summers off is one of the most underrated benefits that teachers have. God forbid they need to work in summer though to make up the extra 25%.
With that being said, I don’t think teachers are paid enough because most are working second jobs during the school year too. For example, had a teacher that was in school all day and bartended at night.
Not sustainable. But also not something I think we pay for with more taxes. I’m all for paying taxes when it makes sense but we currently pay so much and have no insight into where it’s actually going or being used. And the tax system is so broken already. The fact average people pay more than billionaires is crazy.
Yes, they are following the rules and personally I try to pay as little taxes as possible too but that’s because I don’t have more money that any human or family would ever need across multiple generations.
School system is broken too. Over a hundred years so much innovation and change. School system the same now as it was then.
Fix these, then show me the who what where when why and how my taxes will be used, and l’ll be open to buying in
