PSA: With tax season is around the corner I just wanted to share that CashApp (Square) allows you to e-file individual Federal return and 1 state return for free (with NO income limit), and the best part is it supports ALL essential forms for stocks like 1099s and Sch D (gain loss on stock including crypto). IB Analyst
Agree. Easy call assuming it’s not some firm with a chop shop, sketchy reputation.
IB (as someone in FDD)
Lol this should be an easy answer. FDD is glorified auditing.
It’s more middle office but with direct client interaction still, think getting financial statements and talking structural updates with CFO’s on a monthly basis, etc. Then the actual work is post closing deal monitoring and ongoing valuation work.
I was FSO audit, but was lucky and had some pretty niche clients that are really similar to the group I’m with now so I had seen some similar work
IB - the move from IB to FDD or S&O should be pretty easy, if you are still interested when you leave.
Just made the switch to a portfolio analyst at a 30 person PE shop and have loved it so far. Highly recommend doing your own thorough DD on anywhere you’re looking first however. Our culture has been fantastic and supportive so far, but that is certainly not always the case in the industry.
What is a portfolio analyst exactly? Is it middle or front office?
