There is no best fit. Stop looking for the perfect opportunity, no job lasts forever. Take the money, be flexible, learn new skills, apply your current skills and your intellect, and make some awesome stuff. Then leave and double your salary again.
I'd do a lot worse things for double my salary
100%
Are you going from advertising to firefighting? How different will this role be?
Nope. You'd be miserable and starting over again someplace new within a year. It's not just great work you seek, it's great people. Sometime they can outweigh the crappy work.
DOUBLED your salary for a level up?? How underpaid are you currently??
^ basically. I got bills and loans to pay.
Is it possible to really understand a new role without having tried it first? Just take the job and decide if it's a fit later.
I think you'd be surprised how you can apply your skills to the any new role, along with learning new ones. And if you're miserable, buy a convertible
Yes. How do I get that job?
Yep
Depends. If the role was enough to feel uncomfortable but grow into then yes. If the role had nothing to do with my discipline, then no.
Of course! Do it!
Oh hell yes. Don't underestimate yourself. If the people who offered you the job think you're qualified enough to offer you the position, trust that they're right.
If I knew 100% I wasn't prepared for it, no. You don't want to be known as the one who sucks at their job.
Does anyone still care about titles these days?
^ACD 🙌🏽
I did it. I wasn't 100% prepared, but I knew I had 80% of the necessary skills and a supportive manager. Best decision of my life.
How is this a question? Yes. Just yes.
