Yoga nidra is my new favorite self care. I sleep deeper, and it doesn't deplete my precious energy. No side effects or injuries, either.

I love Mindful Movement on YouTube, and she has a yoga nidra vid. Audible also has some, I love Dare to Rest by Karen Brody, and the free one Practical Yoga Nidra by Scott Moore is good too.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing.

Yoga is an excellent way to reduce stress.

I have recently been focusing on a mindfulness*of sorts. Practicing distanced observation of my thoughts, feelings, and actions. Really trying to “be” one with the expression Namaste. Recognizing and embracing the peace of being.

Thanks again!

Subs! Internal subbing is draining the life out of teachers. The sub schedule comes out at the last minute bc of so many teacher absences. It’s the split classes in one period (1/2 Gen Ed and a Special Ed class) Teachers on a cart. Subs pick up students and deliver students. Class changeovers take 10 minutes bc of the domino effect. We’re all waiting for next sub. Teachers are late for their own classes. Students are in chaos with rotating subs. We pay $100 a day. Is the Solution in plain sight?

It has taken me well over a week and a half to feel like a human again this break. 3 days left and I feel simultaneously like I’m getting shorted and grateful that I had the time to have my breakdown off-the-clock. When do you go back and are you feeling ready?

like

I’m concerned about the surge in omicron. I packed everything, just in case. Q2 is ending, a new quarter is starting. We get new kids each quarter as a Specials teacher.
It’s stressful at quarter changeovers.
In going back after break, it’s too much of a contrast. I cannot sleep, I wake up in the middle of the night, “for the day”, about 6 nights a week. To stay structured, I go to “Surrender yoga” daily. I’m good to go do 1 more thing after yoga. I feel accomplished. Couching causes anxiety.

like

Art is a cathartic process for me. It has been a decade or more since I have used charcoal to create. When my students requested it as a unit this quarter, I was mildly excited.

After a few quick sketches, my excitement has grown.
