Nationwide the real estate market is slowing down and cooling off. For my Miami peeps, do you think that’ll reach down here? Do you think the novelty of moving to Miami will Peter out (due to hurricanes, less concern about covid, slowdowns in increases elsewhere, increased rates, whatever) or do you feel this is a San Francisco situation where it’ll buck the national trend and keep on fire?

I would like to search for jobs at companies with offices within about five blocks of a couple BART stations in San Francisco. (For the days per week that I go into the office).

Tl;dr: I have an amazing commute I want to keep it that way when I switch jobs.

What job search platforms let me restrict geographically like this? I don’t see this feature on most of the usual tools. Glassdoor, Indeed, and LinkedIn let you search at the city level only.

My firm has offered to make me a partner if I am willing to relocate to San Francisco (currently in NYC). I’m in a support group, so partnership opportunities are difficult to come by and it sounds like if I decline I will be made counsel without much opportunity to be promoted. I’ve never been particularly motivated by the partnership tag and I know almost nobody in SF. But I also don’t have any significant ties to NYC. Would appreciate any thoughts you have.

Looking at the move to the west as short term (~2 yrs) and looking to rent a place for now (2 or 3 bedroom max). Anyone have recommendations on places around the Bay Area to rent so it’s an easy commute for my wife and me (max 3 days a week in the office) as well as for a family. Thoughts ?

Let’s say I make $230k in Chicago and am looking to move to San Diego and maintain or better my quality of life in terms of discretionary expenses, now owning a car, no public transportation, eating out etc. How much more would I need to make? I know there are cost of living calculators out there, but I find that these mask the true cost of living in HCOL. Anyone with anecdotal experience.
