Dreaming too big, or is it just as hard as ** to be a management consultant?

I was struggling with my sexual identity, and then I messed up my high school study, ending up at a normal college.

I worked hard for some years and got promoted (In Asia). During Covid, I did my MBA in the UK to change my career path.

Maybe I don't speak perfect English like a native, or I don't have a fancy CV like other candidates, I don't have positive feedback yet.

How would you advise me to pursue the dream?

What is the best volunteer experience for MBA schools? Would be open to all ideas!

Question for MBB 🐠 who decided to get an MBA - did it actually change your career trajectory in a meaningful way?

Currently having trouble justifying the opportunity cost, esp. since I’d have to come back for 2 years if I get sponsored, and there’s nothing I’m dying to pivot into.

How the heck do I get out of consulting? I want an IT implementation director or up role with a good WLB and $200k+ base. Have done product and project management.

In general, at what income level does an MBA not make sense anymore if you are only looking for a bump in pay from the credential rather than the experience/connections, etc at a <M7 school? 150k?

Greetings all, I moved to Vancouver and Canada overall a year ago and recently finished my MBA. I have 4 solid years experience in marketing and communications. I’ve applied for mostly entry level to mid-senior roles in that field and of my 160 applications and 6-8 interviews, there’s no luck. Any advice as a newcomer? Also looking to network a lot maybe even find (a) business partner(s).

Current MBA student with a background in tech finance roles (Accounting FP&A). Is it feasible to pivot to SWE post MBA? Currently learning Python and SQL, would SWE intern positions be out of my grasp? In the EU if that helps.

What else should I do if I want to pivot more easily? I want to get more into Machine Learning as well.

Whats a realistic budget besides tuition for an MBA at H/S/W? Deciding if I actually want to go and going into debt is one of the deciding factors (tuition will be pid by my company) and have heard people from my company who spent 100k+

How will athletics impact my MBA? I still have eligibility from undergrad. I want to make sure I get the most from the program but after talking to some coaches they have interest in me. Plus I really enjoyed football in undergrad. I’d most likely just play home games due to conflicts with recruitment/classes.

I'm going into a post-MBA Strategy Consulting (Internal) role, and I've never done fancy excel modeling before in life. I'd highly appreciate it if anyone could point me to good resources to learn this - be it a book, online courses, or anything else you think may be useful.

What I'm seeking to learn overall:
1. How to build a clean, logical, easy to review Excel model
2. How to improve written communication, particular to senior executives
3. How to make better slides

I was lucky enough to get admits from Goizueta ($$$$), Johnson ($$), Booth, Tuck, and Darden (last 3 w/o $). I know it’s unlikely given they aren’t peer schools, but is it worth trying to negotiate with Darden/Tuck/Booth for anything? Post-MBA goal is consulting.
