Thoughts on FP&A? I’m currently a senior tax accountant and got asked to the last round of interviews for a senior FP&A position (narrowed down to 2 people). I feel like I’ll get it as I have friends at this company in accounting who put in recommendations for me. Only thing holding me back is I made manager this week and overall like the flexibility of PA, hate busy season though.

Is “Financial Analyst” a dead end job? I have an interview this week and the role reads like the title should be something like “SEC Accountant”. Can’t help but wonder if there’s something I’m missing or a reason they title it as such? TIA!

What to wear for video interview with tech company for staff accountant role?

I know this bowl is for H1B but posting to see if anyone has insight - friend has final round interview for a strategy role at a tech company but he’ll need a TN. I asked him if he checked the visa sponsorship box and he said he didn’t because he thought he’d get TN under accountant or economist.. but now he thinks the role won’t really pass under accountant and is worried. I don’t know what to tell him - Should he reach out to HR now or wait until final round is offer / they come with an offer?

Have interviews next week for senior accountant positions and getting the weird feeling I could be leaving PA too early. Anyone second guess them self before making the switch out of PA?

Interviews would be much easier if they were with an accountant and not HR. I doubt HR know much about ways to help cash flow or tighten internal controls....

Started looking at jobs in private accounting. I scored interviews for a Staff Accountant, Junior Accountant, and Accounting Assistant. I just finished interviewing for the Staff Accountant position which feels very much like AP/AR and Bank Recs to start, similarly to the other two positions. Does the title matter? I want to be able to grow but at the same time I want to make sure I’m moving up positions in my job search so I’m exposed to harder/higher level work.

advice on switching from Public accounting at a Big four to an industry staff accountant position after only a little more than a year ? I have no desire to become some kind of CFO or CAO. I’ve been interviewing for positions at smaller public accounting firms as well as staff accountant roles in industry. I just want my life back before busy season….

We’re hiring a senior accountant at the tech start up I work at. Most of the people applying have financial services or real estate backgrounds… I’m a little worried about those skills translating to a tech company. I was never in FSI so I’m not sure if areas like rev rec, PPE, capitalized software, etc get much exposure. Thoughts on if this type of background could translate well?

I asked for more money for a senior accountant role and have received a lot of push back. I have been firm with my decision and the recruiter called me today to set up an interview with the CFO. And then threw in the fun fact that there are two other applicants that are willing to take the money offered. Are recruiters always this annoying?

I started interviewing before knowing two other seniors in my engagement leave. Now I have been presented with the opportunity to work as a senior technical accountant at a public company $80-85k. I recently got promoted to senior and although I do have 2.5 years of experience in public accounting the first year was done at a different firm I do not know how much I will be making as an S1 but I hear is in the low $70s. I am debating whether staying another busy season or leave now.

Hi everyone, I kindly ask for suggestions here. I was been referred by my friend to financial service tax in EY.After a call with the MD, he said that my background doesn’t align with theirs because they usually hire Staff1 from campus recruiting, they don’t hire Staff2 and I’m not qualified for Senior1. I am a staff accountant in a local public accounting firm for two and a half years with CPA. Im having a interview with EY recruiter soon! Any suggestions on tax lines? Or tips for interview?

Guys I have a second round interview with an accounting manager at my dream job. Senior Accountant role at a Tech company. I have all weekend to prep. How should I approach this prep? Please help! It’s a pre-IPO company and so there are no public 10-K I can review. Should I review the STAR method? Any advice is welcome. I will do everything in my power to be prepared. Please advise. 🖤

I want to leave public as a senior, but can’t find anything I’m interested in. I’ve been applying;g for manager and assistant controller roles, which has been really difficult. But I don’t really want a senior accountant role. I was thinking FP and A is a good choice. I’m looking for something that has good career progression and a better WLB balance, pay isn’t so important to me. Has anyone else dealt with this? Advice would be greatly appreciated.
