In industry, senior is a reflection of your experience and pay level. People think that it is the equivalent of staff because you aren't reviewing others' work as a senior. I didn't consider switching from a public senior to an industry senior as a demotion though. I got a pay bump.
I’m with SA1. I don’t review work, and I prepare a lot of reconciliations and journal entries, but I got a raise and the work life balance is rly good. Also, they expect you to have a senior level experience where you’re expected to be able to know accounting and be able to research issues that occurred and how the journal entry reclass/ corrections should look like, or how new entries should look like that we need to start booking, etc. I’m expected to take ownership of my area, where If something new were to happen in my area of accounting, Im expected to look into how that would effect our entries we need to book. I don’t consider this a demotion! Still challenges me in a good way.
I’m in the same boat and can’t get into entry level audit to save my life
