Is applying to T2/b4 strategy firms doable for me? Currently ~2 YOE in a Transformation role at a less prestigious, well known firm (below tier 2) and think that I’d like to switch to strategy. Masters and good UG resume. I started looking at associate/analyst roles but don’t have referrals. Will lack of referrals hurt me? Are those entry level jobs the ones I should be focused on? I know it’s tough to transition into those firms so I want to make sure I’m not wasting my time. TIA!

2nd Year TMT IB Analyst here at a small, no-name boutique looking to break into GE / PE in NY. Been networking and applying to jobs. Have gotten into a number of interview processes but wondering if I should try to get into a smaller buyside shop then lateral before B school or after B school - any thoughts? How tricky is the move from strategy consulting to investment banking if you’ve done previous internships in IB? I am currently a junior consultant thinking of applying for an analyst role at a bank. I joined my firm last October and I feel like I’ve made a mistake and strategy definitely isn’t technical enough for my liking.

Currently working at an old biotech company as a senior financial analyst probably working 5-10 hours a week. Bored as hell but I realize my work life balance is insane. I have been trying to break into tech for so long I have an opportunity at a pre ipo start up that offered me $110k base plus 9000 in options at a 10-15 valuation. Should I leave my cushy old biotech company and go to the start up as their first analyst hire in finance and strategy? Or stay and keep applying to other tech comp?

Hi 🐠 ! If I’m 100% new to casing (have a business degree but have been in audit for a year), how long do you recommend practicing case interviews to be strong at it? Is 6-8 weeks sufficient? Would likely be applying for analyst/associate roles. My friends in consulting keep reassuring me that it’s a learned skill but after watching my first case interview ngl I’m pretty intimidated 😅

A recruiter reached out to me for a Program Analyst position at Google. The Job Description seems to require 4 years in consulting, but glassdoor salary for Program Analyst is not at that level at all (only $70-100k/year).

Can someone tell me about the “Business Analyst” role at EY? Where I come from analysts and consultants are different animals. I’m a consultant now, but was actively recruited for a “position” at EY. After the initial convo I received an invitation for a formal interview for a business analyst position… Which in my mind is a step down from consultant. Any insight? Also, what’s the culture over there? Weekly hours? Management? It’s flattering that one of the Big4 is after me but is it worth it..

About to leave for a new opportunity, and thinking about exit interviews.

I’ve heard that it’s best to keep it diplomatic and maintain good relations long term, but to be honest burn-out, poor WLB, a disappointing enterprise-wide 1st year analyst experience, and a nightmare manager are all reasons why I am leaving.

I genuinely want the firm to reflect on this feedback (and other similar feedback from analysts leaving the firm), but understand the risks.

Should I just keep quiet, or speak up?

Interviewed a firm yesterday at 10 AM. Four hours later, my colleague got a call from the same firm asking if he was interested in going to work for them. The recruiter sent me an analyst job and told me to apply for that... entire experience felt like a bit of a screw you. Can I get some other perspectives?

I recently got an offer from PayPal and accepted it, my current salary at zs is 7.5 (4years exp) and at PayPal I am getting 18.5 (16.5 fixed). The offer I got is in the role of BI. However I am also interviewing for the insights analyst role at LinkedIn and mostly I should be clearing it. The salary offered by LinkedIn is slightly less compared to PayPal 16 CTC. Can you please suggest which one should I take. If it's LinkedIn any tips on how to decline an accepted offer at PayPal.

Story time. So my wife has been with her medical device company for close to 1.5 yrs, joined just before the pandemic craziness. Recently her boss told her on a 1:1 that he doesn’t think she’s competent, everything she does is easy and he can hire someone for $10hr to do what she’s doing.

Keep in mind she went through 5 rounds of interviews for this intermediate level analyst role. 80k base.

Evaluating 3 totally different exit ops please provide input
1. Analyst at a VC fund - comp ~110-120k TC
2. T2 consulting 150k
3. Partnerships team at Tech company 160 base + bonus

I’m super conflicted - went nuts on applying and ended up getting these 3 pan out.

Currently 4 YOE always saw myself going strategy -> either tech or VC. Kind of bummed about VC pay but think it’s the rarest opp of the 3. What’s important to me is growth, future opportunities, income, wlb in no order

I am interviewing for a senior financial analyst position and the recruiter says they’re getting ready to make me an offer. I am not very familiar with the company and there’s not a lot of info available about them. Should this be a red flag for me or is it common to jump into an unknown company?
