I’ve decided I need to look for a new firm. The only issue is the firm’s president micro-manages like crazy and I don’t know how I’m going to be able to interview during the day. For context, it’s a small wealth management firm with only 5 people. I am in all client meetings for the firm, and I am in the office every day. Any advice is appreciated.

Have an interview with Barclays model risk team (NYC) for AVP position with no direct reports. I'm currently a Team Lead (since a year ago) VP at a community bank with 1 direct report.

The panel interview is with Director, and two VPs. Is this normal at Barclays? Any insights into model risk/quant analyst interviews at Barclays are appreciated.

Thoughts on backward shift to AVP and individual contributor with a decent salary bump? Is it worth it from a career progression POV?

I have a 2-hour interview scheduled with a few individuals on the team for a role with JPMC and before that, only the screener. I have yet to discuss salary expectations. Is this normal? To not have had a conversation with an actual recruiter before the interview? The email says that the recruiter will follow-up AFTER for feedback and/or next steps.

Seeking Advice : I have an offer on the table from a company that took 2 weeks to get back to me not my dream position but a good salary bump , I am currently in consideration and in the interview process for another 2 roles ? First year analyst in corporate banking. Does anyone have any tips/resources about the process to find another job in the same division but with better pay? I’m not too familiar with the “unspoken norms” of finance, but interviewing and networking with other firms (quite literally the people I’m competing against everyday) seems difficult to wrap my head around.

Was told I would be receiving an offer letter after having a call this morning with a company I interviewed at but still haven’t received the letter yet. Is it typical to not receive an offer letter immediately after being told I’m being offered the job? If so about how long should I allow to receive it? Only reason I’m wondering is because I’d like to give my current employer plenty of notice before I leave (3 weeks if I can)

What are some questions for the first interview for a venture capital / technology investment firm? Technical questions would be great. Coming more from PE background.

What makes a recruiter not respond to emails? I sent thank you notes to which I didn’t get a response from the interviewers but that could be common idk. However at the end of the interview the interviewer mentioned I might need to meet a few other people who became unavailable on my super day. I communicated to the recruiter that I will be going on vacation and if there is interest in scheduling more interviews and get a timeframe. It’s been the whole day and I got no response.

Those who have experience with both companies… all other things equal, would you rather work at state street or JPM? Also, is it fairly common for recruiters at SS to ghost candidates between the interview and offer stage? I sent a note letting them know of a competing offer and asking if they thought a decision would be made this week as I’d like to make the most informed decision possible… the email was very well worded and I have heard nothing back, not even a “we expect to know by x day”

Starting salary at the associate level for JPMorgan Chase in the NYC/NJ area? Currently have ~5 YOE in the risk sector. Entering the next stages of the interview process but would be moving from a LCOL area to a HCOL area so not totally sure and don’t want to lowball myself.

I literally hate how unprofessional some recruiters are, got an offer at a hedge fund and the recruiter is saying that I topped their budget which is 10k under my bare minimum range, like why the fuck would i interview with you then if you can’t “afford” me. Also, it’s very frustrating to not hearing anything from other recruiters that leave me hanging with 0 updates on the status. Just be fucking honest and you wouldn’t have such understaffed departments.

Any red flags here? I’ve been working with a third party recruiter who contacted me about a new job. Received a verbal job offer for a different position than what I interviewed for. Original position was salaried and the job offer was for an hourly role with the potential for overtime. Was told since my experience was primarily in one area that the hourly role would be a better fit and was asked what lower $$$ range I would consider compared to the original range I gave HR.

Interviewing for a Financial Analyst role with Edwards Vacuum. It’s a international company that deals in manufacturing and abatement. Does anyone have any advice such as questions I can ask or what I can expect them to ask? Initial HR interview when asked minimum pay requirement from her reaction sounded like I low balled myself and she said thats well within their range. Been in banking for 4 years since graduation and this role is different than others I have had.

Quick question, just had one of the interview with the hiring manager and found out there’s misunderstanding over the job level (they quoted as director but actually is a avp level and way below my expectation/current level).
There’s another interview set up next week with the hiring manager’s manager. Should I politely decline the interview so not to waste both parties time or keep the call just as a courtesy/informational call?

What if you accepted a job offer, paperwork signed and everything and then another job you had been interviewing for (which is the one you truly wanted) extends an even better offer less than 2 weeks after signing the first jobs acceptance paperwork? What would you do?
