What’s a good/reasonable salary to ask for a senior role? Is 130k too high? I’ve heard of seniors making 95k. I currently make 85k as a mid.

Landed a final interview at a mid-size agency for a senior digital role. Interview is with both the CEO & VP of Digital. Any tips for success? What types of questions might they ask me?

Starting a Jr. Project Manager role in two weeks (LEVERAGE YOUR NETWORK). Client is a headphones company and our team just got keys to all their social. I can’t find any language stating I have to in my handbook and I work for a large network. I don’t have a senior role and not going to a direct competitor. Am leaving a toxic team and am worried my manager will ask, or say something like we need to know you’re not going to someone we think is a competitor.

Title question: because of Covid and changes at my agency, I am now leading both the Account Management and Project Management teams. What is an appropriate title/role for me to ask for that encompasses all of this? Is Director of Client Services more accurate? any other suggestions? Note it’s a smaller agency and we don’t have any VP titles.

I applied for job and followed up with the recruiter to ✨stand out✨ lol. One of my dream creative teams on paper. They said they pulled the position for now, but if I want to still talk about the team/ get to know more about the agency, then they’re available. Im really excited about this. This seems like an opportunity to be more than just a name on paper when a job opens again. I have some ideas, but knowing there’s no immediate job on the table, what sort of questions would you ask?

How do you leave the ad industry for the cannabis industry? Would the roles be similar to an in-house position? Would the pay be comparable?

Any tips for reaching out to agencies you’d like to work for? Is it sufficient to just shoot them a mail and say “here’s my book, would love to work for you if a role came available” or making it a bit more vague as in asking them for a coffee/chat?

My challenge to everyone of you. Every leader, every future leader, everybody who will lead this industry one day: when we get back to normal, whatever that will look like, get personally involved again with recruiting, hiring and mentoring. DO NOT leave personnel decisions to HR, alone. DO Not rely on the parasitic temp agencies like creative circle and Aquent to do all the work. Get involved. Give a damn. A creative leader saw value in me, l assume someone saw value in you too. Pay it forward.

how would you treat a “feedback call” after submitting a case study/assignment as part of an interview process? it’s been confirmed that i’m still in the running for the position. should i be prepared to present?

agencies in nyc hiring for ADs at the moment?

Has anyone ever reached out to the hiring manager/talent recruiter of a company listed on LinkedIn after applying for an open position? I’ve heard this can be effective but I’m at a loss for what say. “Please hire me?” Lolol

I want to be in a DEI position, I know crazy, but I have 6 years working with DEI ERGs and other organizations, and learned a lot through those experiences.

If you’re fortunate enough to be in a position where you’re largely delegating work, how do you find ways to keep yourself valuable/relevant to your company?

At the start of the month, spoke w a CD I knew about a spot at his agency. He said my salary request was a bit high & told me his cap. Fine, still interested. After a couple of weeks of nothing, their recruiter calls me on Thursday to tell me more about the agency and the role, then says the salary parameters & it’s $5k less than what the CD said. I told her the number he said & she said she’d talk w him. Did I just ruin my shot? And when should I follow up?

Mental health in advertising: still stigmatized?

Was thinking of mentioning my experience with it in an application. It’s something I’d like to be open about but don’t wanna take myself out of consideration for the position.

I always thought it was strange that agencies rarely let candidates know the client until they are towards the end of the process. My position has way more job security than others simply because I work for a CPG client. Those in the same role on other accounts (e.g. airlines, hotels, fitness) have been furloughed or even laid off just because of the nature of the industry their client is in.

Do we think agencies will have to be more transparent and let candidates ultimately chose the client?

Got invited to interview for an Ad Ops Manager role - Has anyone made the switch from media planning to Ad Ops? How was the transition and is there any major difference in career growth paths? Do you hate it/love it?

Why does it cost more to hire someone from outside of the agency than hiring a former freelancer in the agency as a full-timer? Also, the outsider’s salary is quarter of what the new full-timer is getting. The math just doesn’t add up to me.

Just received my contract for a 12 month contract role and it says I have to give them 2 months notice if I want to break the contract? Previous contract work has always been max 2 to 4 weeks. So 2 months seems ridiculous? Especially given it’s not my dream job, not my level, and paid way less than what I should be getting as an AD. Has anyone ever negotiated on the notice period? Only wanted to take it because I’ve been out of a job for 2 months and thought I’ll keep looking whilst having this.
