I'm a little bit under two years in my HR career. I was hired on full time has an HR Generalist and I want to start studying for my SHRM-CP, but I'm a little bit intimidated on how to start. Any advice would be helpful. So far I am going to get SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP Certification All-in-One Exam Guide by Dory Willer on Amazon. Are there free online tests to take that are comparable to the exam?
Any advice for someone looking to transition into a full HR Generalist role from Recruiting. I’m currently a Campus Recruiter with about 5 years of HR experience (Coordinator- Higher Ed). I received my PHR certification in September 2020 and sitting for my SHRM-CP in two weeks. I’m having a hard time transitioning into a full Generalist position.
Currently, I have an employee who is struggling. Missing deadlines, making false promises to clients etc. Recently, I sat in one of his development sessions with his manager, and I was shocked at how disengaged he was and how junior he actually vs what we pay him. After some further investigation, we are afraid he lied on his resume and how his experience. How do you go about a situation such as this? This is a first for me.

From the moment the hiring manager makes a decision and tells the recruiter, what are next steps before the successful candidate is notified? Do you have to finalize an offer with the comp team?

Does anyone have any study tips or can suggest a helpful study tool for the HRCI SPHR exam? I used BenchPrepHR to help me prep and took a few practice test. I took my exam last week and unfortunately did not pass. Any tips would be helpful to help me prepare to retake in a few months.
I’ve seen that if you switch big 4 firms, they make you leave that day. Is this still true during Covid? Would they just lock you out if your computer that day?
If the system benefits you, then what is the incentive to change the system (privilege, wealth, etc)? Why not keep things the way they are?
Has anyone seen follow up studies demonstrably proving causation between vaccines and covid rate/ severity reduction? This is not political at all and I don’t care about your stance on vaccines, just genuinely curious because I haven’t been able to find it and would expect that there would be more/ better data at this point with all the natural experiments going on.
Why do D layoffs target newer people? I know of several people with great reviews + high utilization but less than 1 year tenure and were let go. Whereas some with several years of tenure but mediocre/good ratings still have a job.

I have an old chase freedom card which I guess doesn’t exist anymore. Should I change to the freedom flex? Currently put travel/dining on CSR, use Freedom for the quarterly 5% categories, and put flights and everything else on Amex. I don’t think it makes a difference if I’m only using it for the 5% right?

I understand that the way to figure out whether you’re paid appropriately is to take your number of billable hours multiplied by your hourly rate and divided by three. Going into my annual review, I’m it even sure if I’ll be offered a raise, but if I am, should I apply that formula to my new hourly rate (if it’s increased) or my current one?

I used to dread PDs at our school, but this year we do open-door style where teachers sign up to lead a workshop on something they've created or initiated in their classroom, like trying a new activity or app, and teachers pick which workshop is most interesting or applicable for them.
