I've been interviewing with another company for about a month. The whole process has been 3 interviews over a months time. I have been in my current role over 6+ years (as HR mgr) and it's very transactional and not very strategic. The new company wants someone to lead a team from a senior level (HR Director) - what advice do you have for taking the next step in my career? I'm likely going to take the offer if it comes.

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks

How long is it recommended to stay in a role so it doesn’t look like job hopping?
I would like to continually increase my income, but 3% merit increases don’t cut it.

Looking for advice! I was approved to work remotely but my salary will decrease 10%. I received two raises so the decrease brings me down to my previous salary. I was told that it’s due to the cost of labor in the area.

I’ve been with my company for 8+ yrs, I love my manager and the work I do (engagement, recognition, & wellness programs) but I feel like I’m limiting myself since I have the experience, an HRM degree, and SHRM-CP credentials.

Hi!! I’m an HR Coordinator currently (about two years of experience) but my job has so many responsibilities and tasks I’m beyond burnt out. It’s truly impossible to focus on one task because things are constantly being thrown my way. I’ve heard whisperings of a promotion or raise, but my workload is already too much, I don’t know if I’d want to accept more responsibility. Is it normal to feel like you have just as many responsibilities as your superiors who make 30k+ more than you?

I work as a Solution Specialist (sales rep) at an Authorizer Verizon retailer. Phone/wireless sales is not something I want to do forever. I have 4 years mobile sales experience and 3 additional years of niche sales/ customer service experience. I’m feeling stuck and every career/job move fells it is a step backwards. We’re in such a vicious business. You give your heart & soul to an agency, a client, a brand. Then the wind changes & you’re laid off, reassigned, chewed up, spit out, on to the next. I’m tired.

Has anyone been able to negotiate anything extra or terms when being laid off?

Any TIPS on “how to not give up on finding a job”. After many final rounds and ZERO offers, I’m on the edge. It’s a horrid feeling to endure and to end it seems.

I recently received a VP offer at AlixPartners, can someone at AP help me understand this new profit sharing/ longevity bonus they have? The HR rep was not very clear given how new it is. I presume it is additive to any annual bonus or 401k match, correct? How does it work? How long is the vesting period? Etc.

Anyone ever have experience negotiating a new offer to include unvested 401k match and stock grants from your current employer? I hate leaving money on the table but there are some good roles out there. I’m not fully vested in my current 401k yet and my stock grants haven’t matured yet either. This would be at a global director level.

Any suggestions for a formula to calculate a running count of the number of incidences in a list? For example, in a list with A, B, C, B; I want to label A = 1, then the first B =1, and first C = 1, and then the second B = 2, etc. The list is in a column and there are thousands of names. I have been at my company for 3.5 years. One year ago (2.5 years into my employment with them) they re-leveled everyone and I was bumped to an entry level position on the terms that they changed my job title when they re-leveled, so “technically” I am at the early stages of my new title. Even though the job duties did not really change.
I’m not sure the best way to approach this. Has anyone else had a similar experience or know how I should advocate for myself?
