What is salary range for experienced Tax MD from Big 4 at mid-tier firm like BDO? Anyone made the move? Regrets? Recommendations? advice for offer negotiations?

About to turn down a job offer that would nearly double my salary after speaking to several former associates of the firm and hearing some not so great things. The word “sweatshop” was used multiple times yet I am still having a hard time wrapping my head around it. This is truly “you can’t pay me enough to be part of that” in action. I am betting that I can get the same money at a place with a better culture - hopefully I am right!
Is your organization planning to require employees be vaccinated? I understand why management wants this but concerned about losing good employees because they don’t believe in vaccination or are wanting to wait until more people have been vaccinated to see if there are issues with it. I’m also concerned with moral if we require this. Employees may get it to keep there job but hold on to some bitterness or develop anxiety over it. Am I being too soft or over analyzing?
As a company we are looking at going digital with our employee personnel and medical files etc. What are some of the ways you have done that? Any advice/recommended process?
PHR or SHRM? I am looking to get more certifications related to HR vs recruiting, but I am unsure on which one is "better" or will help me grow into more of a strategic HR role. Help!!!
This might be a dumb question, but can an arbitration be seated in New York but apply the law of Switzerland?
Are you folks happy with your decision to make a career in sales? I’m young working in tech sales, but also have my bachelors in psychology, and could see my self happily going for my masters maybe even PHD and being a counselor.
I’m mid-level in my HR career at my current company and an upcoming Master’s graduate. Studying for my SHRM-CP too. How did you make the transition to that next level? What skills do you need, or is it really just based on YOE (I am the youngest compared to my teammates, many who have 10+ YOE)? I feel like career pathing is not very clear at my company. Each time I ask for guidance on this from my manager, I get told they’ll look into it.... would love some external mentorship and thoughts 🙏🏼
Need to define diverse talent metrics to create a scorecard. Challenge is that the available data is based on opting in/out of self identification, that data point can change dramatically YOY. Any recommendations on metrics and scorecard?
How much heads up to you give a firm for a semi emgrecy medical procedure? I had a gallbladder attack and my doctor wants to remove it. It's not quite emgrecy surgery but not something they want to wait too long. My firm knows I was sick a day this week. How much heads up should I give them that I will be having surgery and might be out for a few days?
What is it like to work as a real estate lawyer? I’ve done 4 years of plaintiffs personal injury, I’d like to try something new. Don’t want billable hours. Any thoughts? (Also other types of law suggestions are welcome)
Does anyone have any recommendations for a one-stop-shop learning management system, payroll and benefits platform and applicant tracking system? If not, can anyone propose two cost-efficient platforms that integrate well with one another? Company size: 250-500 employees
How much nonbillable time is too much? I’m a second associate at a midsized firm and I have 30-50 non billable hours each month. An associate at another firm told me this was really high. Thoughts?
Is this normal? At an AMLaw 100 and it seems like the staff rule the office. Legal assistants and paralegals push back often and negotiate the “ask” of a task. When I started I advocated for what I needed quite a bit. Well almost 3 years later and I feel like they’ve won: I’ve stopped advocating but I’m exhausted. I really feel like I can’t practice like this and feel like this alone warrants a search for a different firm. Am I being irrational in leaving for this reason? Ugh
California 🐟, any news about any of the "big" midsize firms (e.g. Manatt, MSK) giving raises?
Would you let the head of your practice group know if you originated business for another group?
So other than money (which is obviously very important) what’s the incentive to make partner? Is it crazy that I just want to do my work and go home to my amazing family without the added pressure of running a business and managing others? I’m only a third year (in a new practice area) so maybe the thought of being competent enough to ever be a partner just seems unrealistic. 🤷🏼♀️
Any advice on a partner that is plain mean (cold, curt, & non responsive)? I’m told she likes me—hate to see how she treats associates she dislikes—but still have trouble not taking it personally.
2nd year associate here. Has anyone made a jump from a boutique firm to big law? I found out that I’m a front runner for a gig with an Amlaw 100. I never thought I’d have this chance having graduated from an unranked law school and still being so junior. Even though the firm asked if I’d be willing to start as a 1st year given my lack of litigation experience, it’s still a monumental upgrade/ jump. I’m nervous about the culture shock and whether I’ll cut it. Could really use some advice!
Seen on LinkedIn today from Ogilvy. Have you had issues presenting an ugly truth to a client? Do you find mostly negative or positive reactions to truthful insight?
Is it really difficult to find another job if you’re unemployed? Even with a few years of big 4 experience?
Can people stop treating LinkedIn to feed their cravings for self recognition? Sure you met a homeless person who turned out to be an unemployed veteran, hungry, LGBTQ, but won't accept money and you invited him to interview and is a great performer. Or how you are a HR recruiter and why it hurt your feeling when someone ghosted you after giving you verbal acceptance because they found a better offer, or how you are a genius to share management lessons based on movie clips? Get therapy! EOR
Almost a year into current job. Tons of long hours and menial work but starting to do some really cool stuff now. In-house agency reached out and the lower end of their budget is nearly 2x my salary..
I really want to get out of internal HR and move in to a consulting / advisory position but when I review the job descriptions for many advisory roles I immediately take myself out of applying because I don’t have the consulting experience required for higher levels. Anyone from a consulting firm have advice on how to get my foot in the door? I have 10+ years of HR experience.
What's a date you'd love? I'm torn between a physical activity like hiking or biking, or a nice dinner so I can dress up. (Thanks covid, real clothes are now exciting😂)
Hello, curious to know what other companies do for employee spotlights besides the traditional email blast to the company. Any recommendations to better the experience for employees?
Anyone have an idea of the salary range for a VP PM type role at JPMorgan Chase? From my understanding, VP can be a pretty wide band. 9 YOE.
Has anyone travelled international on Finnair? Layover includes 20+ hours at Helsinki. Any idea on visit visa situation and if FINNAIR is reliable?
Now that networking events are virtual and limited opportunity for face to face meetings - how are new leads being generated besides website traffic. How do you "network" at virtual meetings and presentations?
I’m currently am a core and advanced comp lead and thinking of getting another certification... would you recommend taking Learning or Talent+Performance? Long term goal is solution architect.
Recently got a raise (putting me at 68k). Turned down an offer for 75k to stick it out and company said they can’t match. Management sup was laid off. Account director just quit. Need more $$. ADVICE?
1 year and 3 month with two busy season experience, CPA licensed and CFE passed (don’t have two year experience yet), on a visa. What are the chances of me getting in forensic consulting? I’ve been cold calling people around but don’t seem like they are currently hiring.

My lovely wife got me a bottle of Talisker 18 for my first Father’s Day. I’ve always loved the 10 year, but first impressions of the 18 are superb.
I am starting to interview with Deloitte for a role either as a Consultant or Sr Consultant in Finance and Enterprise Performance in Dallas. I have 6 years of industry experience and a Master's in Analytics. What salary range can I expect?
Stocked up before covid started, but havent had a desire to drink because I don’t care for it. (Only 2 glasses of wine in last month; not a big drinker). Share a pic of your stockpile
Considering a chief of staff role at a large financial company for one of their VPs. Interview process is just starting but I’m curious of thoughts on growth opportunities. Hopefully next step is VP
