A recruiter is insisting on getting my references before our first interview. They claim it's standard procedure for their company, but it feels way too early to me. I'm worried they're going to contact my current supervisor before I even know if I want the job. Has anyone else run into this?

Seeking advice: I am a young sales consultant and sales engineer working for a tech startup company. I have 6 years of sales experience. And I have been helping run my family business for the past 10 years. I was intially interviewed for a senior account executive position at a $70k offer. Instead they told me I needed more training and hired me as a Junior account executive at a $50k salary + commission. Today is my 6th month mark and I have done very well. And no talks of a promotion / raise..

I started interviewing early Oct with a company that reached out via recruiter. The hiring manager was very straight forward with me that I was his top candidate and I was told all other interviews were very positive incl CMO. The recruiter said they'd be making an offer but it's now been three weeks. Anyone else had the process drag on like this? Meanwhile I'm taking other interviews and was offered a promotion at current company, but was very interested in this one. What would you do?

How much of the buyside recruiting process is dependent on your school? Like if you went to a non targ but were top bucket, will you still lose out on interviews to Ivy League grads?

Is there any advantage to telling a company you are interested in working for in the future where you decided to accept an offer from? Or does it not matter? I accepted an offer a week ago with a great company (Company A) that for this season in my life seems like a great fit and only strengthens what I have to offer company B down the road. Company B just sent me a request for interview and I want to keep the door open with Company B but they were just very late in extending an interview.

Need to know one thing urgently. Have attended lateral TCS interview and cleared TR and MR..But got to know in the MR round that my preferred base location they cant provide..So went ahead with it. HR discussion yet to happen.. In the meanwhile got another interview scheduled tomorrow frm TCS whose talent acquisition person told its a pan india location and any location can be provided...

Got a GRE score of 320 (162V 158Q). Did my masters from A&M (full scholarship, 3.8 GPA, journal publications. Have been working as a consultant for a small tech consulting firm for the past 1 year and was considering a MBA + Law or Public Policy masters dual degree program. My scores are still valid for atleast 1 year. Aiming for M7 or Oxbridge in Europe. Would using this GRE score be realistic for the school given I've just 1 YOE and my quant was lower. If I am searching for an external audit position as a senior associate in public accounting particularly in the healthcare industry what is a competitive wage? Currently I am 1 year in as a senior associate at a top 5 firm and making less than 80k. I do not have my CPA yet but working at it. I have 3 exams left to pass.

I interviewed at KPMG on 11/14 and got a verbal offer the next day but since then waiting to hear from them. Been following up continuously but the partners are not replying it seems. In the meanwhile i have an offer from BT offering 90k for 4 yrs of experience which seems to be fair. I am just unsure whether to accept the offer as I was waiting for kpmg reply as I want B4 on my resume which apparently is a big deal. Is BT also good on resume for future employers ??
