I have offers from Broadcom and SSIR . Salary of Broadcom is higher than SSIR but mostly dependant on Rsu. Any idea about wlb and quality of work in both companies? YOE: 3.5 with M.tech from tier 1 college. Working in hardware domain. @Broadcom @Samsung @Nvidia @Qualcomm @AMD @Intel Corporation

Thanks all. Figured this would be the most fitting audience to celebrate with, as many have the same hurdle.
To C2, the short answer is aggressive savings, budgeting, and discipline.
Longer answer: Yes, it sucked continuing to live like a college student sometimes, but I encourage folks to do the daily interest accrual on your loans (mine was $50+ a day at the start). It put a lot of things that I had previously thought of as "necessary" in the "nice to have" column. Mint.com is your friend to easily track where your money is going, budget, and plan. Then you start hitting (and celebrating) milestones like 175k, 150k, 5 digits, etc. and it starts to snowball.
You can do it!
Congrats! Any chance you would like to meet the people over at Great Lakes?
I'm in great lakes of debt so I'm sure they'd love to meet new people
Congrats! Willing to share details of your journey to inspire those on this bowl? Three years to pay off six figures sounds pretty good.
SM1, no, I am not complaining about paying interest. No need to be snobbish. Do I think interest rates for grad school need to be 8.25%? No, but that is a different discussion.
My comment was about Fedloan. They are a terrible servicer. The saga is too long to go into on FB, but the summary is multiple occurrences of capitalization of accrued interest and loss of interest rate credits by either following directions that were provided by Fedloan or due to them sending notifications after I had the chance to do anything. They excuse it as "the rep was mistaken", "the contractor didn't send the notice on time", "the system had an error" etc etc and say they are not liable. Tried to fight it and lost. Was one more reason to pay it off asap.
But now I'm FREE!!!
Congrats M2!!!
Nice work OP. But don’t lose focus - your next challenge is never to go into debt again.
Thanks for sharing OP! This is good motivation, specially when some of my consultant friends put some pressure on spending more, it’s what they’re used to.
Well done OP! Congrats on being debt free. On a lighter note, anyone who thinks 6 figures can't be paid back in 3 years at average consulting starting salaries, is probably not South Asian. :)
Congrats!
Awesome!
Thanks for the detail OP. And congrats again
Woot woot
Gratz
So awesome 👏
Congratulations OP!
? How
Exactly. Also for those of you thinking MBA but haven't gone, even if you don't have sponsorship it can be easier. I went without any guarantee of scholarship, worked hard and ended up only paying for 1 semester in the end.
Take PTO this Friday
How did you do that D2? and OP, what was the total loan amount if you don't mine sharing? Where did you go to school? Want to go back to school but costs and debt are greatly deterring me.
