If you can sell work you will be treated well.
If you have niche industry or technical skills that are in high demand you will be treated well.
If you are in a high growth practice area or geographic region where they cannot get enough good people and you are a B player or better you will be treated well.
If you have large fee clients that really like you and are willing to go to bat for you with your firm you will be treated well.
If you have the right firm mentors who like you and have clout you will be treated well.
If none of the above apply and you have poor people skills and low utilization you will not be treated well.

It is not the firm, it is the teams. You may be at a great team but the overall firm’s dynamic is not great. Hit or miss when you move to another firm.
