If you are paying interest on a credit card, you are doing it wrong. Pay it off every month and live within your means and capitalize on the points.
If you are trying to get out of credit card debt, open another card that has 0% balance transfer and pay it off before the promo period ends. Attack it with a vengeance
Try the 0% transfer as mentioned to help while paying down. If it's going to take a year or more, also ask for an increase in credit limit after establishing solid payment history. This will help improve your utilization rate, which your credit score is partially based on.
Do a balance transfer if you can. If not try to negotiate. Either way definitely try to pay it off and never go into credit card debt again. Look up Debt Snowball, this is the pathway to get it paid off.
