Any tips for dealing with the family members of criminal clients. I have several clients where the dad, brother, mother…etc are constantly calling and demanding I go see their loved one in jail. On each of these cases nothing significant has happened that requires a jail visit. What is your boundary with this? How often do you see your clients in jail. One jail visit can take 2 plus hours.

Any new dads out there just want a chill 9-5 job and spend more time with the kids? I’m 35 and the rat race is killing me and I’m valuing time with family more than money at this point.

How do I deal with a parent who has become bitter and shrewd as they age? It’s exhausting and disheartening to be around because they used to be positive and happy. My sister might divorce with her husband, they have a baby of 1.5 year. We came from a divorce family and honestly never thought it would happen again - I feel powerless and I don’t know what to do. I feel bad for my sister but I am also mad at her (the fault is always in the middle) because they are not trying to fix it. I am also scared for the baby, I perfectly know what it means to grow up in a divorce family and as much as parents are present is not the same.

Any tips for traveling with a baby? Will be flying with a 4 month old in a few months. Any advice would be appreciated!

Setting healthy boundaries with family is HARD. Specifically a family that suppresses emotions, gets defensive, won’t talk out conflict, tons of gaslighting.

It’s so hard to stay connected when I’m so misunderstood and disrespected constantly. It’s never huge, but a constant 3-4 out of 10 no matter the day. We never talk about anything.

Has anyone received equity as contingency comp? I have a potential client with a founders dispute. He doesn’t have cash, and the other founder ripped him off and is now running the company. He wants to sue for equity and wants to pay me with whatever equity he wins. I’ve never done a deal like that. Is that even enforceable? CA law. The startup is actually quite promising.
