Anyone else dealing with clients who are constantly acting like their case is an emergency? I do family and criminal and clients are not understanding that they are not my only client.

This seems to be more and more common. People are more demanding than ever before. I am exhausted.

Yeah, Family Law attorney here. I feel the same. Clients get very uppity and unreasonable about response times just to ask the same ten questions they’ve asked ten times before

I have issue with clients who misunderstand/misremember what I said during meetings. Comments like “That’s not what you said” or “I don’t remember you saying that” really boil my blood. It’s why I always write everything down in writing and email to clients after my meetings now.

Been in the personal injury game for 25 years and it’s worse than it’s ever been. I pride myself on customer service, but some of these fools make it REALLY hard!

Hi friends,

I'm a new joinee in MSFT.

People in my team they don't come with me for breaks. (They blame the timings are different since they sit in crits but i don't think so because they have their own group of friends to go with)

Secondly, when my team members see me in cafeteria we expect they'll sit with us but people here are being rude they directly go and sit with their friends they don't call you to join. ( atleast they could have said they are accompanied)

I have a direct report who is smart, passionate about her job and can be really innovative. However she carries this enormous weight of responsibility, for needing to do everything, do it right, make sure it's perfect, not trusting colleagues to help. It creates dread and panic and overwhelming workload and a terrible attitude for her and I am speaking with her this week to start to shift her mindset. Any tips in navigating how to let go of this heavy idea of "responsibility"?

Hello! This is a long story, so I’ll try to keep it brief. I work for a very small supplement company - it’s myself (marketing/acct mgmt) my coworker (sales), and the owner. My coworker is struggling to complete his tasks/meet his goals, and the owner is coming to me about angry clients. I’m afraid my coworkers inability to complete his duties is somehow being reflected onto me? What’s the most tactful way to have a conversation, either with him or the owner? Can provide further detail if needed

I blacked out and hit on a coworker at a work-related event. I would never have normally done it (aside from the stupid amounts of alcohol in my system) and they are in a committed relationship, making everything so much worse.

No idea how I’m going to interact with them in basically every meeting I have for now until I leave the company.

3 attorney firm. I’ve been here for 6 years and have used Westlaw exclusively. Now we are switching to Lexis because apparently Westlaw is too expensive. I hate change. I know where everything is on Westlaw and now I need to relearn. Apparently Westlaw will not budge on price and would rather just see a client leave than work with them. Super annoying. Any insight on negotiating Westlaw or transitioning to lexis?

Does anyone run a business in addition to their firm? I’m a solo and I’m doing pretty well with about 60-70 billable hours a month. Though that leaves a lot of downtime. I work at a small, 3 lawyer firm. One of the lawyers is not barred in the state we practice. Because of this, the managing attorney has been having him draft motions and other legal documents and use my name and bar number and having me file them because I will have to appear in court for the matter. Is this normal? I am not provided time to review the materials before I file them so I end up working longer days because I am nervous to file something using my name and bar number.

We are a firm of 5 transactional attorneys and the bonus structure is very unclear. The usual “based on personal performance and firm profitability” language. I wonder how this is calculated in general. What is the percentage bracket of the bonus? Assume it is a high performance 9+ year attorney and the firm is profitable (even with COVID). The based salary is low $120k. Firm is in Tx. I’d love to hear your comments.
