Making people return to work is only something leaders do when they hate their employees and are looking for creative ways to get rid of them
Wow, I'm actually shocked that it was an in person MANDATE. I don't see an issue with optional in person events, but forcing it seems reckless (and legally dubious...).
Events are optional for sure. And the “mandate” is simply pushed strongly by office leadership and culture. Bain feels strongly that it’s culture is a major differentiator between McK and BCG - hence the push IMO.

OW only allowed vaccinated folks and tested them onsite before allowing them to enter. Wanna join us? Happy to refer
Even the 40% is not “mandatory” by any means (more a proposed target if teams want to and can make it work). Very surprised other firms are being so aggressive about in-person / co-location.
Curious, what is Bain’s mandatory in-office policy for 2022? Ours is we have to be in office at least 2 days a week, teams aligning on what days to come in based on work-stream
Bain Chicago is 4 days? Wow. ATL is only 3 days. I assumed that was a consistent North America policy.
M has been totally optional when it comes to office visits and EMs get to decide with the team on how hybrid they want to be
(I did get sick from M Chicago in-person training, tested negative so it’s probably flu)
This has been London Bain's policy. I've heard 0 complaints about it at all.
