Anyone have friends who have left Big 4 accounting for Big 3 Consulting? How are they liking it? And which practice?

^it's a tall task, but can be done if you're passionate about it. Get a top GMAT score, get into a top 10 school, take out $200K in loans, graduate top 20% of your class and you'll be set for a career at McKinsey or Bain. Lots of work, but not impossible if that's what you want.

like

Yeah, I'm thinking of going back to B-School for the MBA. Kinda wanna go Big 3

like

Probably not. All depends on what you like. I've got a buddy at KPMG consulting (by strategy, he's in the minor leagues at KPMG) and it sounds horrible. He travels 100% of the time and all his coworkers sound like douchebags who get their dicks hard over airline and hotel status. I'm sure Big 3 are similar. Tons of travel. Working with a bunch of assholes who think they're cool because they have a Big 3 MBA. You get paid a shit load of money, but you'll never see your family. I#

like

^this probably doesn't occur often. Need to go to a Top 10 MBA for Big 3 consulting.

like

Ya from what I heard most prominent consulting firms don't consider you unless you have a top 10 MBA and I doubt many people working at the Big 4 in audit or tax are Harvard MBAs. I hear of people transferring within the big 4 to advisory practices and have generally heard it's a positive experience

like

You get paid way more; so if that's your goal, solid career move. But ya, their quality of life is supposed to be around that of an investment bankers

like

OP in hoping to do the same (top 20 b school then big 3) currently in Advisory though

like

@KPMG1 Which advisory group? How long have u been with the firm?

like

PwC1 Do u think Big 3 culture is significantly different or more fulfilling than Big 4?

^buddy isn't in strategy consulting, but I imagine strategy is just even more extreme.

I have over 12 years in B2B sales/sales management experience along with a graduate degree. I am wanting to shift gears and I am at a point where I can invest time in myself to learn through practical experience. The new industry I am wanting to pursue is real estate investment. I have read all the books but want some hands on experience on the property management side. How could I best leverage my skills for a role in this, and what should my expectations be for negotiation in compensation?

Just got another rejection... Is exiting to FAANG or MB really this hard? Trying to go tech.. or mbb, but not getting anywhere. I have 2 masters (mba, ms) from top schools, been in consulting for over 10 years, I am confident that I know my stuff well..but still I keep getting rejected. Interviewed with Google, Amazon, Cisco, McKinsey, and a few others and every-time there is something that is not a match... are the hiring managers looking for like 100% match? That will never happen!!!

Looking for honest opinions: would you trust career advice from someone who doesn’t necessarily have a background in career coaching but has always been “that friend” that everyone calls for career advice, resumes, salary negotiations etc?
I have a long background in management and have been very successful in climbing the ladder but I would love to start career coaching on the side. Any feedback is helpful!

I am a consultant working in one of the big 4. I have got a call from DE Shaw HR for a role in their Project Finance and Investment Research team focusing on Energy sector? Being an MBA in Finance graduate, I am in a dilemna on which path might be better I the long run -consulting (where I am more of a generalist, taking up random asks from clients and onshore stakeholders) or Project Finance & M&A where role might be more specific.

Hi
I am currently working in finance but want to move to tech/information technology eventually since it's a growing sector. Any suggestions on how I can go forward with it in the most beneficial way?
Should I get into a program? If yes, which one would best suit me to get myself going in tech as I have no prior experience there.
Can I be self taught to expect good companies reaching out?
Just need some ideas to get going.

Please help!

Being on the high CTC side & Higher position, I’m bit tensed about my career over here. Can someone please help me if it is a normal situation in Globant? Or I should worry & should be active again? Also, is there any layoff happened in Globant in the past couple of years.

Transitioning from com. lit into tax controversy?

I have a tax LLM and started my career out of law school doing M&A tax at a big4. After 9 months, I got out of big4 transactional hell and into whatever litigation I could find. I now practice commercial lit but would welcome the opportunity to eventually transition into tax controversy (which I wasn’t able to do before). Does my commercial litigation “break” hurt my prospect? How long can I stay in com lit without hurting my chances even more?

I want to leave my captive company. I don’t think I am ready to be totally on my own even with a cluster group etc. There is an option to be subcontractor in another independent company. I can write she said like 300 companies in many states, it would be helpful because I have many friends out of state. Is taking 25% of sales for giving CRM and companies too much? Seems like a lot. It is like “owning your book” but I assume I would pay a high price if I want to totally manage myself in a futu
