Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.
Ya’ll take ya vitamins today?

I vape in all my hotel rooms and rental cars. Never smells. @pwc1 - Vapes can't set off smoke detectors...because vapor...not smoke. you sure thats nicotine your son is vaping and not the devils grass? 😏
If they suspect anything, put in a complaint that the hall way smells a bit off
Never had issues with it
🙄
I vape in the hallway and call it a day
Steam can and does set off smoke detectors. Smoke detectors don't detect smoke. It is a misnomer. Google how smoke detectors work to see why; also it is interesting stuff.
Yeah, smoke detectors look for particles in the air. I used.to.work in a theater with fog machines (aka a giant vape) - we set off normal smoke alarms all the time if we weren't careful. Open a window and smoke out it, or do it in the bathroom with the shower on and door closed
If you don't like make huge clouds though it's not going to set anything off. Vapor falls, smoke rises. ☝️
Vape away brah
D4, I'm not here to judge - just chime in. Not my lungs I'm filling with metal
We have high end smoke detectors, my son wasn't smoking wacky tabacky, and yes, the smoke detectors went off! He has been opening a window since then, and we haven't had the issue, but I can still detect the smell, and despise it.
My son vapes, and it set off the smoke detectors in our house. If you open a window so that the room is well ventilated, that can make a big difference. It does leave a smell (IMO), so if you are in a non-smoking room or hotel, I wouldn't do it.
Do you vape bro?
Aren't you afraid of the penalty from the hotel? I personally have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to smoke or vape smells. I would and have reported it immediately if someone next door started smoking and I could smell. Or if i smelled it after checking into a room.
A4- Or give it up and lead a drug free lifestyle?
@A4 depends on the smoke detector. There are two different major types.
@OP: I vape in my hotel room every day, rental car too. I've never had an issue in my years of experience. And I have a pretty powerful, cloud generating vape. I keep it away from the client and my peers though.
Oh, and my girlfriend vapes and neither of us have ever set off a smoke detector. I didn't even think you could unless it was one of those high-end smoke detectors. I would definitely fact-check A4. YMMV.
The one type of room I refuse to vape in (besides shared rooms - at least not unless I'm being discreet and holding the smoke in until it disappears) is an airplane bathroom. I hear they use extremely sensitive smoke detectors, plus it's super tiny and there's nowhere for the smoke to go. Plus, if you fuck up, it's a big deal.
Also, @D2, steam and vapor are different things FYI
Just to clarify, we talking e cig juice or shatter/concentrates?
Does not matter D3 both can set it off due to the way the alarms work.
