Apologies for the dumb question but what exactly does partner mean in today’s world? In olden times it would have meant you were a partial owner right? Does it still? Or does it just mean extra highly paid employee with a lot of leadership responsibilities?

We don’t use the term at Accenture of course since we’re public, but I’m curious what it really means at b4 or MBB, beyond just extra high paychecks? Are there actual partner benefits, like owning private shares of the company?

I got offer from Deloitte for around 14.5 (fixed + variable) for 4 years of experience in SAP.

Is it wrong that I’m just not into PE/VC? It seems to be the most desirable exit for most people that I work with.
