I’d say mostly California at least in Dallas but it’s really everywhere. City is booming and people are constantly moving here. But if your kids happy where you are at and you don’t have to move any reason you don’t wait to move til they finish HS?

Yes, families relocate all the time.
Whether it’s a good fit for you is something you’ll have to determine for yourself
Your money doesn’t go nearly as far in Texas. Property tax and insurance is extremely high in Texas. Texas has no income tax so the services are extremely expensive. Sure that lcol price looks good but you’ll pay dearly for it
I don’t think you really know what you’re talking about. The property taxes are high but they are high in New Jersey also plus you have to pay ~5 - 10% in income tax. I have no idea what insurance rates are in New Jersey but I can’t imagine that is more than a couple thousand dollar annual difference. My property taxes and insurance are less than my income tax alone would be in New Jersey then you still have to pay property tax and insurance
