I don’t think so. People I know who have one in their email signature are the people I would not trust to actually lead a project. It’s an antiquated check the box.
Not gonna lie - i read this as “are pimps still worth it” 😂

Without no instruction, she headed for self-destruction ya feel me?

I've worked with a lot of people with PMPs and was not impressed.
I think the problem with folks who flaunt PMPs tend to be really rigid with their application of the PMP concepts with projects. With large firms, this hardly ever works.
It’s a check in the box like agile and cloud certifications IMO
What’s a better alternative to PMP? Or in general, what’s a better certification to do?
Ceritifications and such can't hurt, but its not like someone with 10 years of relevant experience will be looked upon meaningfully differently than 10 years of relevant experience plus a cert. If you have little/no relevant experience, then a cert improves credibility, but still not as much as actual experience.
Hiring managers care more about the "generally doing a good job" part than the "has a cert listed on the resume" part.
If you want to be a program manager I think it still makes sense. If you’re considering it just because you work on a lot of projects and feel like you should have it then don’t bother
The latest pmbok guide has added many agile practices. They are finally learning that building software is different. Go all in with agile. Those that think agile sucks have never done it correctly.
Agile in theory is awesome. Agile as implemented in most companies is painful.
It's an excuse to not manage the chaos.
I know many clients that have a lot of old timers who need to see that or they believe the resources are inexperienced
Nah. The big red flag for me is when you hear about people studying for it and they describe the need just to learn some convoluted “textbook” approach that has no bearing on reality to pass that dumb test.
I like learning so I’m getting it. Not paying out of pocket so why not? Won’t be putting it in an email signature though, lol.
If you are in government, it helps to list it on proposals. Only reason I would get it.

If you're a PM in the federal (not sure about state/local) space, yes. Otherwise no, unless you're a PM that works for a firm that's 100% old school waterfall.
