Are there any policies or programs (ERGs) for employees and resources that aren’t minority demographics? How can those employees also feel welcomed and share community?

Accenture has a Men's ERG, and I'm planning to start one at my company. It's a good place to discuss "traditional" perceptions of what makes a successful male leader and challenge that with more modern values that are relevant to a growing portion of men in the workplace (e.g. don't be aggressive, don't need to be 6'+ to be an executive, etc.)

I've had a young professionals ERG, and a caregivers ERG, caring for children, elderly, or disabled

like

Wow that sounds like a great idea!
I think a lot of the hesitation is fear of embarrassment or worse when initiating an ERG . The sort of thing you’re talking about really emphasizes the Inclusion in DEI

I’ve seen ERGs for all sorts of things like connecting parents, networking for young professionals, members of military, public speaking, and leaders of tomorrow.

like

That’s a really good point. I don’t want to step on toes of either ERGs but also the representing group. I appreciate your recommendations!

If there are, I've never seen any.

The purpose of ERGs is to foster a diverse and inclusive workplace, so I wouldn’t think so because frankly, the workplace and business landscape is likely already inclusive of, and catered specifically, to you.
Maybe try starting an interest group, like a monthly culture celebration, and rotate between different cultures but include European cultures on the roster. Rotate by continent so that everyone has a seat at the table. That’s much more inclusive than an Old White Man ERG and is still really interesting.

I’m sorry but I don’t see it as a game. I support everyone of all colors and backgrounds. It’s disheartening to hear that people are still making assumptions and treating each other negatively based on skin color. I’m a minority and support my fellow humans, it’s wild that it’s bothers you.

Well, we have groups for working parents and for military veterans (assuming you meant minority from a classification perspective). I have not seen anything like your European heritage suggestion implemented anywhere.

The older I get and the more I think about raising my own children, I keep thinking how can parents frame religious duties like fasting as something to look forward to. I applied for a job and received an offer from my client. 15k+ bump in salary, better benefits/remote work, and responsibilities will give me exposure to all areas of the organization (start up). The problem is that they’re looking to staff me as a Senior when I’m currently a Manager at DT. They said they’re flexible on title, but curious to hear how others have navigated similar situations. I would report directly to the controller and have 1-2 staff reporting to me...

Hi - I am a career pivot from higher education into tech and have final round interviews for a DEI Coordinator role (which I'm super excited for). I am meeting with three people that I would be partnering with for the job and it was shared with me that these interviews will mainly be behavioral as well as questions on my technical skills. Does anyone have any resources to help me prepare for this? Anything is greatly appreciated!

Feeling very frustrated right now…company talks a big game about DEI internally, while requiring new hires to move to Texas/Arizona, while the company’s PAC donates to politicians pushing extremist, regressive, anti-woman and anti-LGBT laws

They want to encourage us to “bring our whole self to work” while putting us in situations where we can’t be our whole self.

Anyone else in a similar place, feeling discouraged? Any tips?

General question: Is there any room in corporate America for real, actionable DE&I discussions and initiatives? I've observed so many corporate versions become an advertising strategy (SM posts, diversity reports) without doing the actual work (increasing representation in senior leadership, salary analyses, having an effective reporting system for bias). Is this just how it is?
