Are there any social workers out there who have had a previous supervisor refuse to sign off on the hours they did at a company they no longer work at. I’m in MA and am heartbroken, I am now short over 40 hours and I have no idea way. I have spent hundreds on the test prep and application to register for the exam that I am no longer gonna have. I feel so defeated.

I love my SO but get unsure....they just went on a friends trip and came back and randomly said going on another one in two weeks. I said I wanted to spend time together so they came back next morning and said let's go away just us instead, which is awesome and I am happy BUT is it a red flag? They used to always be all about spending time together and now seems like I have to remind them to put us first in the past month. We both work hard and have kids so life is more complicated. Vent over.

Any parents who are still on the safe side with Covid? We have a 1 year old and being safe and staying mostly home is really getting to me. Most of our friends have kids who are able to mask up or are vaccinated and it’s getting quite isolating. Especially now mask mandates are being lifted feeling like we can’t go anywhere without risking our kid.

How does everyone bill for family law matters? Do you always bill hourly or is there some flat fee, monthly or quarterly fee structure that could work, even in contested matters? I have cases that the clients end up spending $20-$40,000 on a contested divorce and this is really out of their budget. I feel that if my firm could charge a flat fee of $10-$15,000, it would still be beneficial from a client predictability and volume standpoint and would generate more referrals.

I am generally uncomfortable when I’m around my mother-in-law’s husband.

While he is overall a decent guy, his anger issues, yelling at his wife for the slightest issue, and insulting nature makes me uncomfortable and triggers my own anger due to his blatant disrespect for just about everyone around him.

Left PA and started industry remotely. Haven’t been in the office. Met my team one time. Tips are to always be on video for even the smallest of calls. Take a ridiculous amount of notes. In downtime, go through your notes and come up with questions by reperforming old work. Set up recurring question sessions with your team so you know what to do next time. Set up performance meetings even monthly because it’s hard to get a gauge on your performance

What do you think a social worker with 8 years of experience should be making in Santa Barbara, CA? Hey there! really need a change in pace from being in higher levels of care, and am wanting to go part-time with my company and private practice, but I want to buy a house in the next year and am worried about finances. Can anyone speak to the hardships or successes or a counseling of practice and/or buying a home shortly after starting one? What do you guys think about apps like BetterHelp and Talkspace? I understand they might have real therapists working on their content, but a lot of the marketing I see is so vague and broad that it feels like a lie. Seems like "This app got rid of my anxiety with a 30-minute automated text questionnaire" is the new "This tea made me lose 20 pounds in two weeks!" Just seems a little fad-like and money grabby to me. Thoughts?

Hello, I’m an LMSW in Michigan. I have 15 years of experience in the field as a clinician, supervisor, and an administrator. I am feeling burnt out and unsure of my future. I have worked mainly in the Community Mental Health and the VA Health systems, hence my fatigue. I’ve flirted with private practice work in the past, but my spouse has been worried about not having affordable healthcare and benefits that each system provides. Is it worth the jump? Am I overthinking things?

So embarrassed. I literally had one job to do today which was to schedule a client and give and take her paperwork when she came in. Totally called her by the wrong name today AND gave her the wrong paperwork. She was really nice about it but I feel like my boss was disappointed and I'm disappointed in myself. I don't want her to think I won't be able to keep clients straight when I start doing supervised sessions.

LCSW 50k loan repayment- Has anyone been granted a contract through the National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program? I’m interested in applying for the 2 years of full time work as an LCSW but my loans are a bit under 50k so I’m wondering if they would only give me what I need to clear my loans or would I still get 50k as long as I complete my contract ?
