Most of what the reserves do is waste fraud and abuse 🙃
Civilian doctors cannot do the medical portion of the PHA. You can have a dentist fill out a DD 2813 and give it to your medcom personnel to upload . Depending on where you are you can usually find an MTF and ask if you can do it. AD gets priority so they might turn you away if there’s no appts available. Also the soldier portion of the PHA that needs to be filled out has to be done from a NIPR computer. You might be able to ask one of the AGRs in your unit. Sounds like your im Virginia- not sure how far you are from Walter Reed but I know you can get it done there - I’ve done it there in the past. They won’t book you until you do the online portion though, so you still have to find a computer to be able to fill out the online portion.
Check the MHA portal because you might actually be able to do the ePHA portion from a civilian computer. This is a very recent change but we are seeing people that have been able to do theirs at home instead of having to be on the nipr network.

Yep. I believe you just need to coordinate with your doctor and have them provide the paperwork, ask your unit for the details.
But yeah I totally get it. I used to travel 3 hours for vision appointments that were setup by LHI 🤦♂️
I believe there's a way to get around it, but it can be tricky. Have you talked to your doctor about it? It makes a lot more sense to do it in one place, but unfortunately -- what makes sense isn't always top priority.
You definitely need to go through the formal channels in order for the PHA to be updated correctly. It's not as easy as handing off a bunch of civilian documents to your medical readiness person and having them transcribe them or input them. The provider that conducts the exam needs to be credentialed in medpros.
