I have recently started an investment platform for angel investors and entrepreneurs. It is 100% free for everyone while we build a following. We already have 20 pitches live and would appreciate my fellow consultants/fishes showing support and signing up for the platform! Please DM with any questions. Thanks in advance!

I know Liver King is out there but my roommate has been living by his “9 ancestral tenets” and it basically changed his life. Anyone else that follows something similar seen benefits? Seems like he’s rooted on well being and staying connected with the world around you. Even if you think he’s weird his YouTube video is well put together.

I feel like the pandemic has made us all a little dumber and shortened our attention spans. Reading, puzzles, and meditation will help you become sharper.
Sorry to hear you’re going thru this but I think there’s a general sense of “brain fog” from most of us. Have you considered seeing a functional medicine provider or holistic provider to explore what traditional medicine may not consider? All the best 🙃
It actually brings me great relief to know other people experience this. I sometimes feel I’m the only person in the room who lags. My husband sees a functional health practitioner, I should try his. Thank you for your kind response!
I’ve got a weird suggestion. Two weeks ago, my fiancé encouraged me to stop consuming so much information in my spare time. I would have my AirPods in listening to a podcast or audiobook upon waking and also when doing chores around the house. Also when driving to and from work. Probably several hours a day. Back when I felt most sharp, this constant consumption wasn’t a thing. I deleted the podcast app from my phone, and have actually started talking out loud to myself while driving to work. I’ve learned that I’m an “external processor,” meaning that I do better with brainstorming and developing ideas by doing it out loud or in conversation with others. It was strange at first, but now those 20 mins to and from work let me plan my day and speak openly about how I’m feeling in general. So by (1) stopping the consumption of more information and (2) replacing that time with thinking out loud, I’ve felt my brain slowly healing. It’s getting quieter in there. I’m more present. It’s nice.
One more thing. I couldn’t begin talking to myself without feeling silly. So I thought using a voice memo app would make it feel less so, because people have been using dicta phones for decades. So try that out, using a voice memo feature on your phone. The Otter app is very cool, too, because it transcribes your voice recordings so you can even refer back to your thoughts. It also pulls recurring words/keywords you say for each recording so you can get a glimpse of what’s on your mind that day.
I feel this way too! I am a 12 year lawyer and find myself making so many stupid mistakes recently. I feel like I can’t process things as well as I once could. I did have a kid last year but she sleeps like a champ. I often say I think I’m getting a brain tumor. So - I have no tips, only commiseration. (Have you had your thyroid checked?)
There is some very interesting reading on iodine deficiency, specifically check out a book called “The Iodine Crisis - What You Don’t Know About Iodine Can Wreck Your Life”. My thyroid issues brought me here and people report very favorably one they start supplementing with iodine (and limiting the other iodine blockers in diet and personal healthcare), especially with energy and brain fog.
Have you had COVID? I had it in Jan 2021 and still notice sporadic brain fog. It was really bad for a few months after I had the virus…and thankfully had gotten better…
I was gonna ask the same question...
Yes!! I have had a huge problem with this and I’ve heard (from many doctors) it’s a common side effect of covid. I’ve also recently heard of some studies that indicate staying in one place/one room without getting out and taking in new things for extended periods of time effects our cognition ability. I’ll have to try to find the article I read.
Thank you for sharing this! I’m going to look this up. I’ll give some new scenery a try to see if it helps!Of the suggestions, this seems like the best starting point. My life can get pretty routine: work, gym, sleep, repeat. Maybe throwing in a new outdoor workout, adding some outdoor walks at work will help!
I’m so sorry this is happening to you too. Such a horrible feeling—like our brains are shrinking! I appreciate you taking the time to offer your thoughts.
I just deleted Facebook and Instagram because I was always “distracted” and couldn’t concentrate long enough. I know I’m smarter when I consciously apply myself - but that conscious push (moving past procrastination) was taking too much effort. And I also switched from podcasts to music (similar to what someone mentioned above) and it’s given me space to think. All the best. For reference, I’m 39, F and 140lbs/5’3 so normal middle aged city gal.
I feel the same. But I'm 100% convinced is the excess of cellphone and app usage (including this one). It does NOT ONE beneficial thing for our brain this technology. And to think there is an entire generation already building their cognitive functions WITH IT.
You felt sharper before because you weren't doing HOURS of screen and overload of information everyday.
I feel like this everyday, I’d also like to know the cure.
I have this issue, but I’ve been told that it’s Covid brain. I got Covid twice. Both times were pretty bad. And I had an amazing memory before I got it. Now, I can barely remember my name some days.
I don't want to insult you but when you say you're healthy does that mean that you exercise regularly and are not overweight as defined by your doctor? I am obese, I previously did not eat a lot of vegetables or exercise. I am still obese a little bit less now but exercise and vegetables has helped my mental acuity intensely. You're not meant to be just a gear that chunks out legal analysis, you have to take care of your body too it holds your brain
There are many underlying medical conditions which can cause brain fog that a doctor wouldn't test for in a normal or annual health checkup. Multiple Sclerosis, Thyroid issues, Vitamin B12 deficiency, Vitamin D deficiency, Wheat (gluten) sensitivity, Lupus, Adrenal fatigue, just to name a few. Peri-menopause and menopause can also cause brain fog. If you're doing everything right as far as your diet and physical activity, and you're getting plenty of quality sleep and you're not going through peri-menopause or menopause, your doctor may want to test you for possible underlying medical conditions. My brain fog was caused by Multiple Sclerosis and Graves Disease (hyperthyroidism), which I was tested for after my doctor had ruled everything else out. Treatment for these has made brain fog a thing of the past for me (as long as I don't get a flare-up). Hopefully for you it won't be something as serious. Best of luck.
First of all, you are not dumb! You are a very accomplished person who has been able to reach many successes in their life. Secondly, I understand what you are going through completely!!! I felt like all my intelligence just seemed to trickle away when I would struggle to find a word or lose focus. Stress and anxiety made it worse. Meditation, quieting my mind, breath work and quit telling myself that I am stupid (because I am not!) have helped.
I love this! Thank you so much!
I’m glad to know it is not just me! I’ve said many times that I feel like my brain just isn’t as sharp. I started analyzing and thinking maybe it’s because of my lifestyle. I haven’t picked up a good book in awhile, been to museum etc. you have to do things to keep your mind sharp . Do a suduko puzzle
I read and write for a living! How much more sharpening should I do!? I also read for fun, but find I have to read paragraphs three times before I comprehend. Sometimes I can see facts and an outcome, but the reasoning from getting from point A to point B is such a fog. Do you experience this too???
Same same… but mine is most certainly coz of the little monster I birthed who doesn’t sleep well.
Maybe it’s time to find a new primary care provider, I feel like this complaint gets brushed off by my PCP as nothing and I’ve accepted that as an answer. Thanks for responding, it’s nice knowing I’m not alone. Hope you get some rest soon! 🤍
Mine gets a lot better when I do keto🤷♀️
I read Drop Acid and it’s honestly changed how I look at anything I eat/drink. Uric acid is produced during the metabolism of fructose in the liver. High uric acid levels lead to an immense amount of health issues. But the one that struck me the most was the brain. Because of its affect on the oxygen in our blood many people with high uric acid levels are at 150 or more percent risk of developing dementia, but also an 80% increased risk of vascular dementia. I think it’s worth looking into not only for basic health but especially brain health. Just my own two cents though.
Wow thanks for sharing this. I have a friend with this issue didn’t know it affected cognition ..
Could it really be you just have tons more things going in life now than when you were a student whose only worries were for an upcoming exam or paper?
I feel brain fog (usually high dose vitamin D fixes that since I’m chronically low) and have to be more planned and methodical than in my 20s. I think it’s going from singular focus and tasking as an analyst to a holistic, birds eye management view now. Creativity, problem solving, strategy, innovation, and leadership takes a different kind of brain power than writing/editing an internal communication.
I’ve felt this way before (way pre-COVID). It seemed like my brain skipped sometimes. I started taking a high quality fish oil supplement and saw an improvement. Perhaps it might help you as well :)
This one seems to do the trick. It’s pricey, but was worth it for me :)
I feel like this also. Mine started after I burnt out about 3/4 years ago. I started taking omega oil recently to see if it will help and doing ‘brain training’ exercises. There’s been a slight improvement but my memory still feels nothing like it was.
I’m so sorry this is happening to you because the this experience creates helplessness in me. And this deep fear I don’t deserve this career/am hurting my client. At one point I did try the supplement neuriva and felt marginally better.
Whatever suggestions I get, I’m going to try. Except reading more. It’s bad enough I can’t understand the things I HAVE to read all day for work. If something amazing happens, I’ll DM you my findings. 🤞
