I feel like the pandemic has made us all a little dumber and shortened our attention spans. Reading, puzzles, and meditation will help you become sharper.
Sorry to hear you’re going thru this but I think there’s a general sense of “brain fog” from most of us. Have you considered seeing a functional medicine provider or holistic provider to explore what traditional medicine may not consider? All the best 🙃
It actually brings me great relief to know other people experience this. I sometimes feel I’m the only person in the room who lags. My husband sees a functional health practitioner, I should try his. Thank you for your kind response!
Not sure if your male or female but I’m a 48 year old male and started getting testosterone pellets every 6 months a couple years ago. It’s been a game changer for motivation, clarity of thought and energy. It might be worth looking into. Good luck.
Females can get pellets too. Blood work determines what your body needs and is included in the pellet.
Brain fog (what you have) can be from a number of things, including a sluggish thyroid. You should look into finding a functional doctor or naturopath and get some lab work done!
Have your thyroid checked. Some of the things you described are related to both an overactive and under active thyroid.
Thank you for asking this. I feel the same and feel better knowing i am not alone
Feel free to chat me if you ever need some support or commiseration. Some of these suggestions are new— others I’ve done to the Nth degree. I’m hoping someone here is right!
Consuming seed oils, and having too much screen time can mess up your brain. I use tallow, ghee, and butter to cook, and try not to eat out often. Cut your screen time down significantly, read more, get out into nature more. I also take Magtein, vitamin D, and a prenatal vitamins.
How do you cut down screen time with our job? Feel like most days my entire life is just sitting in front of monitors.
No advice but just that I’m going through the exact same thing. Almost feel like I have short term memory loss sometimes and constant brain fog no matter how much sleep and rest I get (even took an extended vacation that didn’t help). Got blood work done and all looked healthy so hoping eventually it just goes away? Please post an update if you ever find a cause/cure!
Have you tried meditation? Between all of the content on our phones, the nearly constant notifications, texting, the ever-burgeoning e-mail we receive, and the pressure to respond, our ability as professionals to focus and reflect takes a beating. I’ve read where even as little as 3 minutes a day, over time, actually re-wires the way our brains function and process information.
Had the same after Covid - was barely able to rebuild a PPT properly. Took some time and all good again. Remember the brain is a muscle that needs to be trained but can also be overly stressed when being overwhelmed with information. Disconnect and being offline, not consuming information has actually really helped me.
I was like this then the pandemic hit and I think it’s just been so much to process for so long it took a mental toll. I’m still working on it but definitely feel better the days I take my vitamins
I find that my brain fog and lethargy is 10x worst when I am overworked and stressed. By day 2 of vacation I have all this energy.
Another thing that helps is eating clean. I did a 10 day smoothie cleanse years ago and my clarity of thought was next level.
Did you get Covid by any chance?
Yes! Others mentioned Covid brain, but I was a dipstick before I ever caught covid 🤣
When ever I feel that way all I do is change my environment. Sometimes you go see somewhere new and nice, go do what you love doing for fun and after all of that you come back home and you’ll feel a lot more different
I can’t overstate the benefits intermittent fasting can have with this. I have had tremendous results since implementing. I have never felt my cognitive abilities were stronger!
Do you possibly have Long Covid induced brain fog?
Maybe! But I have noticed a cognitive decline before 2020. Starting in maybe 2018? Once I passed the bar, it feels like my brain went into hibernation.
I hear ya, and I just want you to know you’re not alone. Getting outside in a forest creates new neural pathways, I notice a difference when my outside time is compromised.
