If you want to park for that long I would use a Treasury (especially if in a state with income tax) or a brokered CD. Your HYSA rate is variable and will fall immediately when rates come down. I would find a way to lock the rate.
Can’t guarantee I want to park for that long, just guesstimating and trying to keep it liquid in the event I try to buy in the next year-ish. Might look at 1 year CD rates though, thanks for that good thought
Treasury bonds. Fidelity SPAAX around 5% return. Plenty of others to chose from. Low risk
VUSXX fund - highest return and state tax benefits
Sofi is $300 bonus with an extra $25 if you use referral (happy to provide one). That's the best HYSA bonus I've found.
There are other bonuses like Chase and Wells Fargo, but those are checking accounts. Also ones that boost APY slightly for a few months, but I haven't found those worth the effort.
Honestly I would just get the Sofi bonus for the free $325 and then move the whole amount into money market fund or treasury bills in a brokerage account.
Like I’m not being mean but $325 is nothing for the amount of money you’re dealing with
5% with Wealthfront. 5.5% for first 3 months with bonus referral, which I can send you if you're interested.
I would take a referral, thanks
I’ve had $200k sitting for over a year. Wish I didn’t go with hysa but didn’t think it would take this long to find a house in a specific neighborhood.
??
I use Robinhood … it’s at 5%
