Isn’t 1c/point a fairly poor value?

2 Amazon answers, can't tell if it's sarcastic or misinformed. Gift cards are easiest, 1 cent per for most store-specific ones. You can do better with airline or hotel point conversions, but it's a real pain to juggle and value shop, and you end up hoarding points because you can only get the good redemption rates sometimes

Hands down Amazon if you have a good amount. Last time I did the math,1 amex point is worth .007 dollars on Amazon.

Gift cards! 10000 points = $100 at a lot of places!

Amazon

Eh gift cards are so you are locked in at whatever place. If you want flexibility to buy whatever junk you want, amazon is the place. Over black friday i bought stuff for myself and all of christmas. You loose 30 dollars for every 10,000 points but you gain more flexibility.

Sign up for Charles Schwab Amex platinum; it has a fee, but you can cash out points at 1.25 cpp, and the sign up bonus covers the fee and then some at that exchange rate. Cancel after a year.
You’d get more ‘value’ transferring to an airline and booking a first class ticket (up to 8-10cpp), but the question is, would you actually pay that much for a seat like that?

Currently 25 y/o making 70k/year in Boston. I grew up pretty poor and I have minimal financial education. A lot of my salary now goes towards helping my parents get out of debt. My parents are no longer able to live on their own, so considering selling my grandmas house where they live (maybe 550k), paying off their mortgage (100k) and buying a duplex (between them they make about 55k/year). Is buying a two family home a good investment ? How much can I afford to spend on a new house?

I’m looking for a new job, working remotely, that doesn’t require a Bachelor’s. (I’m currently going back to school to get one, as I only have an Associate’s in Mathematics right now)
I had positions in private sector that allowed me to supplement having a degree with experience but not in public sector. I’ve seen coworkers get positions they aren’t able to do simply because they have a degree and then leave a mess for me to clean up but I’m not allowed to have the position. Any suggestions?

I don’t anticipate any hiccups in the background check but is it wise to wait until the background check is complete before turning in my notice?
